The 55-inch running deck can be hard for tall runners to run with a natural gait—a 60-inch tread belt is the best for taller people.

A Quick Look at the ProForm Power 995i
The ProForm Power 995i is not the most tech-enhanced treadmill we’ve reviewed, but I’m going to give this machine a break—it came out almost seven years ago. What the 995i might lack in touchscreen technology, it makes up for in horsepower, incline training, and decent top speeds. We also love that the Power 995i is a folding treadmill and appreciate the EasyLift assist with gas shocks for ease of use and safety!

Key Features of the ProForm Power 995i
The ProForm Power 995i has a lot to like in a cardio machine. When it was available for purchase on the ProForm website, the price range was fairly reasonable for a powerful motor, top speeds of 12 MPH, and incline settings up to 15% grade.
The 3.0 CHP Mach Z motor on the 995i supports runners and walkers alike. The motor paired with a 60-inch running deck made this an ideal machine for runners who didn’t want to drop upwards of $1,000 on a treadmill.
Although this model has a basic, easy-to-read LCD display, the treadmill still features iFIT compatibility through a wireless Bluetooth connection to access the interactive workout app.
Footprint, Portability, and Durability
The ProForm Power 995i is certainly not as bulky as some machines we’ve tested (like the NordicTrack Commercial 1750), but it’s also not small. It measures about 81 inches long, 35 inches wide and almost 67 inches in height. The good news is, you can get back some of your floor space with the brand’s signature folding space-saver design.
Folding the Power 995i is a breeze with the EasyLift assist and gas shocks. The folding mechanism allows you to easily lift the running deck up and fold it into a vertically locked position. When you’re ready to use the treadmill, you can tap your foot to the gas shock and step back and watch the running belt automatically lower to the ground with ease. We like EasyLift Assist for safety reasons, too.
Ergonomics
The ProForm Power 995i has supportive ProShox cushioning incorporated under the running surface to provide you with more shock absorption than you get from road running. We like this feature for keeping ankles, knees, and hips happy after vigorous or high-impact workouts.

Speaking of working hard, the built-in Coolaire workout fan can help keep the sweat at bay with a nice breeze while you run. It’s also good to know there are quick speed and quick incline controls to quickly select whole integers while you’re moving. You can also use the arrow keys to get more refined speeds and incline settings.
Another thing I like about this discontinued model: The tablet holder has a designated space above the console so you don’t cover up your workout metrics like calories burned, distance, running time, and heart rate.
Technology Benefits and Conveniences
We like the convenience of the EKG heart rate monitoring sensors in the handlebars of the Power 995i to get a quick reading on your heart rate on the display. The screen might be modest, but the ability to connect with iFIT still exists on this discontinued treadmill that was introduced to the market around 2015.
To access iFIT workout programs, you’ll first need your own device like a smartphone or tablet. Second, you’ll need an iFIT membership which is sold separately for a monthly subscription fee.
Once you’ve signed up on your own device, you’ll use Bluetooth to connect your own device to the treadmill. Connecting to the treadmill will allow you to track your stats and workout progress. In newer ProForm models, the Bluetooth connection also allows you to utilize auto-adjust technology for running with Google Maps routes or participating in a trainer-led classes. It’s unclear if this model has the same auto-adjust technology that our team is familiar with today.
Final Verdict of ProForm Power 995i Treadmill Review
The ProForm Power 995i is a sturdy treadmill that offers decent horsepower for both runners and walkers. We like that this treadmill has a 300-pound user weight capacity and a 60-inch running deck, which makes this machine suitable for a variety of weights and height ranges.
Although not a perfect match on specs, the ProForm Carbon T10 is worth checking out if you had your heart set on the Power 995i and just can’t find it for sale. The Carbon T10 is similar but can offer you a more interactive experience with iFIT and the built-in touchscreen.
