Rogue Thompson Fat Pad Review: High Quality, High Price

I’m not the largest lifter out there (shocking, I know). So when I saw the size of the Rogue Thompson Fat Pad, I was immediately skeptical. This thing lives up to its name by being...well, fat, to the point it made me look like a little girl. But, as your parents probably told you, you should never judge a book by its cover. After all, a fat pad designed by powerlifting legend Donnie Thompson has to be good, right? In my review of the Rogue Thompson Fat Pad, I’ll discuss how my initial thoughts were flipped after putting it to the test. Why You Should Trust UsAside from having researched, used, and extensively tested dozens of weight benches—of all varieties—we’ve also compiled the most comprehensive guide for the best benches for home gyms. Eleiko Hybrid Bar Review (2021): Top Secret Innovation

It’s not often that Eleiko releases an all-new bar. So when they sent me the Hybrid Bar to test, I was ready to give it the respect and attention a brand like Eleiko commands. To add to the excitement, this bar was made with a never-before-seen coating that immediately sets it apart from so many otherOlympic barbell competitors. After using it, I can confidently say the Eleiko Hybrid bar has:An excellent knurl for multi-purpose useA fine balance between spin and sleeve stabilityA sturdy construction that lives up to Eleiko’s name.Along with all of the positives, there are a few things I’m not too keen on with this bar. Eleiko bars are among the most expensive in the world and to me, some features on the Hybrid don't align with that. Why You Should Trust UsBarbells are my thing. I’ve spent years researching more than 100 barbells and have personally used more than 80 different bars of all kinds including deadlift bars, trap bars and specialty bars.On top of that, we have a diverse team at Garage Gym Reviews responsible for testing and evaluating bars using our multi-step protocol. Whoop Strap 3.0 Review (2021): A Recovery Tool for Serious Athletes

There’s something to be said for a small device on your wrist that can tell you if you’re getting enough sleep, taking enough vitamins and avoiding overtraining. Fitness trackers definitely have a place in helping people reach their goals–and they can actually give some really good insight into your overall health.I’ve used the Whoop Strap 2.0 in the past and am now doing an in-depth Whoop Strap 3.0 review because this really isn’t your run-of-the-mill wearable. For starters, it doesn’t have a watch face and it doesn’t count steps. But, it does provide some useful tools if you really want to dive into how your body responds to training. And the Whoop has some big-name fans, like two-time CrossFit Games champion Katrin Davidsdottir and pro-wrestler Seth Rollins.I don’t think this is the right device for most people, but for a very niche crowd of people who take their training seriously, the Whoop is pretty awesome. Why You Should Trust UsPersonally, I and other people at Garage Gym Reviews have tested dozens of these kinds of devices, including the Fitbit Charge 4, the Fitbit Inspire 2, and the Garmin Forerunner 245. Senior editor and CrossFit gym owner Kate Meier also tested the Whoop 3.0 (along with many other fitness trackers) to give her insight. We both wore the Whoop for weeks at a time, around the clock, to get a good sense of how it performs. Kate used it for weightlifting sessions as well as CrossFit WODs. She slept in it, coached in it, worked out in it, and took her dog for very many walks in it. Together, we got a good sense of what it’s like to lean on the Whoop for the info you need to maximize your training efforts.

Kabuki Kratos Flywheel Review: Horizontal and Vertical Pulling in One Unit (2021)

If you’re reading this, I assume you’re probably pretty familiar with the brand Kabuki Strength. In the past few years, they’ve put out some of my favorite products including the versatile Trap Bar, Transformer Bar V4, and New Generation Power Bar. Kabuki recently released a flywheel, and I’ve been itching to try it.In this Kabuki Kratos Flywheel review, I’ll walk you through what’s included, unique aspects of this product, and my final thoughts. As always, I’ll give you all the details you need to make a smart buying decision for you.For those of you who aren’t familiar with flywheel training, it can be an effective way to build strength within your body’s connective tissue. It can also increase overall power, muscle hypertrophy, and force.Essentially, it’s useful for eccentric overload training where the muscle is stretched during both the lifting and lowering of your reps. The resistance is inertia driven, which means it is all based on how much force the user puts into the movement with the flywheel.

Rogue Bella Bar Review 2021: Where Durability Meets Versatility

Lifting weights used to be largely a male-dominated activity. That’s no longer true. Fitness platforms like CrossFit have introduced hundreds of thousands of women, teenagers and even kids to the barbell, and I couldn’t be happier about it. The more people we have committed to health and fitness, the better. But, we need to get the right equipment into the right hands. Literally. So when looking at the Rogue Bella Bar 2.0, which has a smaller grip than the barbells I use, I needed to turn to the very people who use it.That’s why I partnered up with Garage Gym Reviews senior editor and CrossFit gym owner Kate Meier for this Rogue Bella Bar review. Another staff writer here, Amanda Capritto, is a certified personal trainer and CrossFit L1 trainer. About a month ago, I was watching TV and an advertisement for the new Bowflex VeloCore popped on screen. Right away, I knew I had to order it and try it out for all you fine folks in the Garage Gym Review community.I love the core engagement you get when using the lean mode on this bike. In this Bowflex VeloCore review, you can expect to see my opinion on what really matters – durability, overall value, and the leaning feature. I put this bike through my standardized tests to help you decide if this is worth your money.

Schwinn IC4 Review: A Quality Indoor Cycle Bike

In recent years, Peloton has made waves for its interactive programming and very expensive bike. At half the cost, the Schwinn IC4 Indoor Cycling Bike offers an alternative for those wanting app connectivity, durability, and a great value. Similar to some of the best rowing machines or best treadmills, I believe this piece of equipment could be a solid cardio addition to your home or garage gym.If you know me, you know that I already believe the Schwinn Airdyne Pro is the best air bike around. I’m glad to see they have released the Schwinn IC4, which is an upgrade from the brand’s first iteration, the IC3 bike. With the IC4, you get magnetic resistance instead of the friction pads of the IC3 and technology to connect with apps like Peloton and Zwift.I started Garage Gym Reviews to give people my honest opinion and the facts they need to find thebest home exercise equipment. Mutt Bars Weighted Exercise Bars Review

Barbells and dumbbells are most often seen in home gyms, but Mutt Bars are similar in that they’re weighted exercise, but combine the functionality of a multi-grip specialty bar with fixed weight. Although I don’t think they’re a perfect replacement for incrementally loadable Olympic bars, they are a ton of fun and offer a unique way to do presses, curls, rows and other movements.

Echelon Stride Review

Released in 2020, the Echelon Stride is one of the newest interactive running machines on the market. There are a few reasons that it made my list of thebest treadmills, namely because of its foldability and portability. The Titan Fan Bikeis the most complete piece of cardio equipment Titan Fitness has released to date. To be frank, it’s essentially a tricked-out Assault Air Bike. Nearly every part of it from the color to the monitor reminds me of the ever-popular Assault Air Bike even down to the less than desirable chain drive. The REP Omni Rackis a flat-footed power rack version of the almighty PR-5000 V2. Its ability to sit on a home gym floor unbolted, yet still sturdy while also offering the potential to go from a half rack to full rack is unique. We recommend the Omni Rack just as we recommend the PR-5000. Kabuki Strength Transformer Bar V4 Review: The Ultimate Safety Squat Bar

The Kabuki Strength Transformer Bar V4 is the most versatile safety squat bar currently available. After using the previous versions and finding a lot of shortcomings, Chris Duffin and the Kabuki Team have taken the criticism and made a bar that is not only incredibly versatile, but equally easy to use. If you want the best safety squat bar currently made and don't mind paying for it, this is it. No question.

Fray Fitness Functional Trainer Review: Cheap, Great Value Cable Machine

The Fray Fitness Functional Trainer is one of the best home gym cable machines available. Although it states it is "commercial-quality," we disagree, but that does not mean it's not a good machine. It is one of the cheapest functional trainers you can get with 200 LB weight stacks. If you have a home gym and want to add a cable machine on a budget, this is a good option.

Marrs-Bar Safety Squat Bar Review: A Unique Specialty Bar for Squatting

The Marrs-Bar is a safety squat bar with a unique camber and harness system that makes it feel different from any other specialty barbell I've ever used. The Marrs-Bar is a very expensive bar, but after using it for back squats, front squats, good mornings, lunges, and other exercise movements, I will say that it's replaced the SSB in my training. I do think it's a bit too expensive to recommend for most people, but, based solely on how it feels and performs, I think it's a fantastic bar.

The Strength Co “The Captain” Squat Stands Review

The Strength Co is a former gym that decided to transition to selling equipment due to the COVID-19 Pandemic shutting down gyms. The Strenth Co "The Captain" Squat Stands is a basic squat rack designed to be affordable, long-lasting, and made in the USA. This is not the best squat rack in the world and I do think there are better options, even at lower prices. However, I love the ingenuity and am excited to see is to come. To be honest, their story is starting off a lot like Rogue Fitness did.

PureTorque Ab Trainer Review: The Best Core Training Device I’ve Used

PureTorque is an abdominal training device that when hooked up to a cable machine or band can, in my opinion, provide one of the most effective trunk/core training workouts available. It is rather pricey and the movement can be somewhat replicated with an exercise ball, but, if you can afford it, it's an extremely functional piece of training equipment that has become a staple in my training.

Teeter is the creator of the best-selling inversion table of all time. The Teeter FitSpine X1, X3, and LX9 Inversion Tables are their latest offerings that improve upon the original EP models, but at a similar price point. After using Teeter Inversion Tables and Gravity Boots over the past decade and testing the latest FitSpine series for review, I feel that Teeter's are the best inversion tables on the market and although the FitSpine offers minor improvements over the previous versions, you can't go wrong with any of their models.

ChopFit Chopper In-Depth Review

The ChopFit Chopper is an iron club of sorts that has been fashioned into the shape of a hatchet. It's a cool looking, Instagram-worthy piece of workout equipment that also comes with an app. Although we think it's too light and there are better ways to spend money on fitness equipment, if you're looking at following a simple, HIIT-based workout program, this could be an engaging option.

Inertia Wave is designed as a lighter, more portable battle ropes alternative. We've tested and reviewed a pair over the past three months both in house and by others and although we initially were extremely skeptical, we do think it's a great replacement for the ever-popular and overly-bulky battle ropes. If you're low on space, enjoy portability, and want a great conditioning tool, the Inertia Wave is a serious option to consider.

Oak Club James Hook J-Cup Review: Best Sandwich J-Cup We’ve Tested

The Oak Club Mfg James Hook is the most over the top sandwich j-cup we've ever tested and reviewed. It's massive, uses a unique Mag Pin to prevent swaying, uses a gigantic, slanted piece of UHMW plastic and is expensive. We think it's completely unnecessary, which is one reason we like it. If you have the money to spend on a special set of j-cups, these are a great option. However, these are not for most people due to the price point.

Sorinex OFF GRID Squat Rack Review -The Budget Friendly Sorinex Rack

The Sorinex OFF GRID Rackis the least expensive and also least feature-filled squat rack they’ve likely ever made. It’s a novel idea made as a “wartime” solution for those low on funds and space to get back to training. Although I do think there are better options available, I love the cause behind the rack which gives 100% of profits to Coaches vs. COVID-19 Fund and thinks it’s a cool piece of equipment for those that want a minimalist option.

Flex Wheeler’s Back Widow Attachment Review – Worth the Cost?

Flex Wheeler's Back Widow is one of the most versatile cable machine attachments ever created. It's great as a "back blaster" for lat pulldowns and rows, but works just as well for curls and tricep work. In addition to that, it doubles as a deadlift jack and also works as a landmine. Honestly, unless you're conscious of all it does, you'll forget just how often you can use it. It is expensive and we do recommend it, but only to those that will use it's various capabilities and don't want to take up space with a ton of different attachments.
