As a dedicated lifter for nearly two decades, I can confidently say that a high-quality adjustable weight bench is one of the most valuable strength training tools at your disposal. After all, you can quickly go from flat pressing a PR to sculpting your pecs with incline flys in a matter of seconds. Plus, a true FID bench (flat, incline, decline) opens the door to other exercises like decline sit-ups and decline presses.
But, what if I told you there’s a budget-friendly option that offers even more adjustability than just the backpad and seat?
In this RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench review, I’ll break down a versatile model that includes an adjustable headrest and a four-position arm curl pad that can pave the way for ultra-precise training. Having tested some of the best weight benches on the market, our team was excited to see if this innovative product lived up to the hype.
So, if you’re on the prowl for a bench that can do it all, let’s find out if the RitFit Gator has the bite to back up its impressive resumé.
Our RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench Review, Summarized
Built with 14-gauge steel, the RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench offers a robust weight capacity of 1,600 pounds. With 10 back pad angles, three seat pad positions, three decline settings, and a five-way adjustable head rest, you have ample options to support your strength- and muscle-building goals. Earning an impressive overall score of 4.4 out of 5 from our product tester, the RitFit Gator provides excellent value at its list price of $399.
How We Test Adjustable Weight Benches
A well-designed weight bench should provide a stable, supportive platform for flat bench presses to incline presses to bodyweight exercises. To earn a 3 out of 5, a bench should have a steel frame and be sturdy enough to withstand consistent use under heavy loads. We award higher scores to models made with 11-gauge steel, premium padding, and high-quality vinyl upholstery that enhances your grip and overall control.

With the ability to change the seat and back pad angles, adjustable weight benches offer more functionality than a standard flat bench. We award a 3 out of 5 if the bench uses a reliable adjustment mechanism (such as a ladder-style or pop-pin system) that provides a minimum of five backrest angles. Higher scores go to benches with more robust adjustment options, with the RitFit Gator standing out with its adjustable headrest.

How easily can you move and store a bench when it’s not in use? Most manufacturers incorporate elements like front transport wheels and a rear handle to enhance the portability. Any weight bench that has wheels and a handle earns a 3 out of 5, but we give bonus points to models like the RitFit Gator that are designed for upright storage.

Our squad uses a comprehensive weight bench testing methodology to assess key categories such as construction, durability, and value using a 1-5 scoring scale. For adjustable weight benches like the RitFit Gator, we carefully evaluate how easy it is to change the seat and back pad angles. We’ve tested more than 50 weight benches (and counting) from top brands such as REP Fitness, Rogue, and Major Fitness.

The Garage Gym Reviews team includes certified personal trainers, Olympic-level athletes, and strength training enthusiasts who have completed all types of bench workouts. We take pride in finding high-quality options on both ends of the spending spectrum to cater to buyers with different budgets. In 2025, we helped more than 7,000 people find the right weight bench for their home gym, and we’re confident we can do the same for you, too.

The RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench offers the kind of stability, adjustability, and weight capacity that serious home gym owners will appreciate. Its heavy construction and premium footprint may be overkill for casual lifters, but it's a strong choice if you want one bench that can handle nearly every strength-training session.

Is the RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench Review Worth It?
Founded in 2015, RitFit has established a reputation as a rock-solid, budget-friendly home gym equipment manufacturer. Our team has been impressed by several of their products, including the rugged RitFit Power Cage, their highly rated Smith machine, and the versatile PLC01 Leg Extension Curl Machine.
Naturally, that made us excited to see whether the Gator Adjustable Weight Bench would deliver the same type of build quality and performance that helped other RitFit equipment earn high scores from the GGR squad. Fortunately, this bench checks the all-important boxes for construction and durability, adjustability, stability, and value.
That last part is particularly important, as there are many high-quality adjustable benches on the market in this price range. Listed for $399, the Gator Adjustable Weigh Bench is priced competitively, putting it right on par with the Major Fitness AH64 Bench.
Luckily, you should be able to snag it on sale (we’ve seen it listed as low as $359.99), and you can also check out our RitFit coupon code page for more ways to save.

Workout Experience with the RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench
While the RitFit Gator looks appealing on paper, what matters most is how it performs. Because it offers so many adjustment options, we wanted to conduct a thorough analysis of the various mechanisms, the quality of the padding, and any notable design elements that impact your workout experience.
To help provide a thorough understanding of the ins and outs of this ultra-versatile bench, we tasked one of our in-house expert product testers with putting it through our in-depth testing process. An avid weightlifter with almost a decade of training experience, our tester was highly impressed by both the aesthetics and functionality of the RitFit Gator.
Let’s find out more about what made this bench one of the highest-scoring models we’ve tested.
Investing in a weight bench like the RitFit Gator makes a home gym space substantially more versatile. Not only can you do standard moves like bench pressing and seated shoulder pressing, but it also opens up the opportunity to do things like Bulgarian split squats and even some core exercises.

RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench Rating

Construction
Featuring a reinforced 14-gauge steel frame, the RitFit Gator bench made a strong impression on our tester based on its build quality and rugged design.
“The construction is very impressive! I really like how cohesive the bench is even when you can adjust at three different places,” she says. “The notches for the adjustments are very well made and the materials seem super durable.”
This bench also has several user-friendly design elements, including knurled handles, anti-scratch feet, and rounded edges that can help prevent unnecessary knocks or scrapes if you bump into the bench. The padding is made from recycled foam covered in PVC leather. While it’s not the most grippy surface, it’s still good enough to help this bench earn a 4-out-of-5 construction score.
That being said, our tester pointed out a few design drawbacks.
“The foam attachments do not fit well in the spots that they are supposed to,” she explains. “They are hard to remove and attach, and the paint comes off quickly. Plus, the covering of the bench seems to feel a little loose where most other benches have a very taught covering.”
It’s also worth noting that the RitFit Gator bench has a 2-inch gap between the back pad and the seat. While our tester noted that it did not inhibit her experience, you will need to look elsewhere if you want a zero-gap bench. (I recommend the Titan Fitness Titan Series Adjustable Weight Bench)
Durability
Whether you’re just starting to lift weights or you’re a seasoned strength trainee, the RitFit Gator provides plenty of room for progressive overload1 thanks to its unparalleled 1,600-pound weight capacity. Based on our testing data, that’s roughly 650 pounds more than the average weight bench.
Of course, weight capacity is just one component of our durability score.

We also take note of the build quality of the components in order to get a gauge of how well they’ll last with repeated use. This is especially important for a weight bench, as you want a sturdy base and durable padding that’ll maintain its shape.
Our tester gave the RitFit Gator a 4-out-of-5 rating in this category.
“When seated or if a heavy dumbbell is placed on the bench, there is a temporary imprint in the covering of the bench, but not on the cushioning,” she explains. “This is good for longevity because over time these tend to become deformed with wear and tear if the cushioning is malleable.”
That said, we docked one point here because RitFit uses 14-gauge steel instead of the heavier-duty 11-gauge steel found on many higher-end benches.
Adjustability
Considering you get a whopping 21 adjustment combinations, it’s easy to see why this versatile weight bench earned a perfect score in this category. As a longtime lifter who’s used many types of weight benches, I have to marvel at the sheer amount of possibilities the RitFit Gator provides.

Here’s a quick overview of the different adjustment options:
- 10 backrest angles ranging from 0-85 degrees
- 3 seat pad angles (0, 15, and 30 degrees)
- 5 headrest levels (22.5 degrees per level)
- 3 rear adjustment components for decline training (-2.5, -4, and -7.5 degrees)
That gives you tremendous flexibility for highly targeted training. You can set a slight decline, load up your trusty Olympic barbell, and perform one of my favorite lower-chest exercises: the decline bench press. If you’re a fan of antagonist training (targeting opposing muscle groups), you can set the backrest at an incline, lower the headrest, and knock out chest-supported rows without having your face buried in the pad. Or you can put the backrest fully upright for lateral raises and other shoulder work.
Most importantly, you don’t have to struggle to make these adjustments.
“The mechanism to adjust is a pull motion that was very easy to use, and the bench never got stuck when trying to change angles,” our tester says. “There is also a twist-pin adjuster for the head piece that also adjusted smoothly and had a good range of angles.”
Ultimately, the RitFit Gator is something of a Swiss Army Knife given all the options at your disposal.
“I have never used a bench with such a wide range of motion for body, seat, and head rests! It is very versatile and I could see this being useful for endless exercises,” our tester says.
Portability
Not everyone has the luxury of a large, open training space. Some home gym owners have to be especially mindful of how much room a particular piece of equipment takes up, especially when it’s not in use.
Luckily, RitFit designed the Gator Adjustable Weight Bench with portability at the forefront. Tipping the scales at about 109 pounds, it has built-in transport wheels and a knurled handle that make moving it fairly easy despite its heavier-than-average weight.
“The average person could definitely lift and move with the help of the handle and wheels,” says our expert product tester. “The wheels roll well over carpet and hard woods, and the bench is able to fold flat to store with ease.”

We also appreciate that the RitFit Gator can be stored upright when not in use. So, even though it’s not a fully foldable model, you can still reduce its footprint and preserve precious real estate.
Stability and Size
Nobody wants to train on a bench that shakes like you just wrapped up a ridiculously hard #LegDay. Fortunately, the RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench’s sturdy design provides a stable platform for your training needs.
“I did not notice any shaking, wobbling, or noises during workouts,” our tester says. “The stabilizer near the head is wider than the stabilizer near the feet of the bench, but this did not affect stability or durability.”
Measuring 57.8 inches long by 25.2 inches wide, the Gator offers enough surface area for a variety of pressing and accessory movements without taking up an excessive amount of floor space. Its 14.6-inch flat bench height is worth pointing out, as this is a bit lower than the typical weight bench (17 to 18 inches tall).
Value
Based on its $399.99 list price, the RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench is about $90 more expensive than the average weight bench we test. However, as mentioned earlier, you can typically find it on sale for closer to $360.
Although it’s by no means the most budget-friendly option, we still rate it a near-perfect 4.5 out of 5 for value. First, the build quality is excellent, as you get a rugged steel frame, high-quality padding, and a sharp aesthetic that should mesh seamlessly with your home gym setup.
More importantly, though, you get an incredible bang for your buck given all the adjustment options. In addition to the standard back pad and seat pad adjustments, you can use the adjustable headrest for chest-supported rows, incline curls, and decline movements. Plus, the removable arm rollers can support preacher curls, rear-delt work, and other isolation exercises.
Customer Experience
While some benches in this price range come with just one year of warranty coverage (we’re looking at you, Major Fitness AH64), that’s not the case with the RitFit Gator. Instead, you get a more generous three-year frame warranty and one year on moving parts and components.
“RitFit also has responsive support,” our tester noted. “The delivery process was simple; it came in a box and assembly only took about 10 minutes.”
Potential buyers will also appreciate that RitFit Fitness offers financing options through Shop Pay. Setting up weekly or monthly installments can help make the total cost more manageable than having to pay everything up front. In addition, this product is HSA/FSA eligible, meaning you can typically save up to 30% by using pre-tax dollars to fund your purchase.
It’s worth noting that RitFit’s 35-day return policy has one big caveat. If you decide to return the bench due to personal reasons (ie. you don’t like it), it must be unused and in its original packaging. You’ll also be responsible for return shipping fees. As a result, we docked one point from the customer experience score.

RitFit Gator Adjustable Weight Bench Vs
There’s no doubt the RitFit Gator is a great choice if you’re in the market for an adjustable weight bench. Between its 1,600-pound weight capacity, 21 adjustment combinations, and impressive performance, it offers a ton of value even at its $399.99 MSRP.
Of course, it’s far from the only viable option.
If you’re trying to stay in the same price range, the Major Fitness AH64 Adjustable Weight Bench has fairly comparable specs, including a 1,500-pound weight capacity. You actually get a few more backrest and seat positions, along with a more customer-friendly 35-day, no-reason return policy.
On the other hand, if you can stretch your budget further, you should consider the Force USA Pro Series FID Bench. At $599, it certainly doesn’t fit the bill of budget home gym equipment, but it’s a commercial-grade product backed by a lifetime structural warranty.
