NordicTrack C800 Treadmill Review cover image

Editor’s Note: The NordicTrack C800 has been discontinued and is currently unavailable. We suggest viewing the Horizon 7.0 AT Treadmill as the best alternative, or view our Best Treadmills Under $1,000 list for more options.

NordicTrack is one of the most trusted brands in cardio equipment. The brand is known for making quality equipment at affordable prices. The NordicTrack C800 treadmill was a foldable treadmill that has now been discontinued. NordicTrack has since updated and modernized their Commercial Series line of treadmills to have built-in screens and improved integration with programming.

In our NordicTrack C800 Treadmill review, we’ll look at online specs and reviews in order to help you understand what to expect if you find a used one. We will also help you determine the best alternative to this machine if it happened to catch your eye.

We Know NordicTrack Treadmills

Our team has tested and reviewed all the (currently available) NordicTrack treadmills to tell you the best treadmill from the trusted brand. We will always give you our honest opinion on fitness equipment. Our group of athletes, CrossFit L1-trainers, and weightlifting coaches works year round to help you fill your home gym with the perfect equipment.

Pros

  • 60” running surface
  • 3.0 CHP motor

Cons

  • Heavy machine at over 250 lbs

  • 3-year parts warranty and 1-year labor warranties are less than the Horizon 7.4 AT Treadmill

Bottom Line

For under $1,000, the Horizon 7.0 AT is a great option for people who want to use their treadmill to run.

The C800 is no longer in production and isn’t readily available on Amazon or the secondhand market. So we’ve come up with some alternatives. There are a couple different directions you could go when buying a new treadmill, we have you covered whichever path you decide to take.

If you’d like to stick with NordicTrack treadmills, we recommend the NordicTrack Commercial 1750. This is our favorite NordicTrack treadmill and our favorite iFIT-compatible treadmill. It is significantly more expensive than the C800, but you’ll get incline and decline abilities and a 14 inch HD touchscreen.

If the 1750 is out of your price range, the NordicTrack EXP 7i is a much more affordable option that is closer to the C800. It is more expensive than the C800 because it has a built-in screen, modern amenities, and a stronger 3.0 CHP motor (great for running) to justify the higher price.

If you’re willing to look elsewhere for a treadmill and you are looking to stay under $1,000, we love the Horizon 7.0 AT treadmill. This treadmill has very similar specs to the C800. They are both foldable treadmills lacking a built-in screen that have incline abilities and a top speed of 12 MPH.

A Quick Look at the NordicTrack C800

The C800 offered both incline and speed abilities, and it folded up for storage using NordicTrack’s SpaceSaver design. It has a sizable 20 inch by 60 inch tread belt and customizable cushioning options. It also had the ability to monitor your heart rate via contact grips and Bluetooth chest straps.

Pros:

  • 0-12% incline
  • 0-12 MPH
  • Folding treadmill with SpaceSaver design
  • FlexSelect Cushioning
  • iFIT compatibility
  • Priced under $800

Cons:

  • Two people and tools required for assembly
  • Chest strap heart rate monitor not included
  • Reviews stated motor was loud

Key Features of the NordicTrack C800

The NordicTrack C800’s main proposition value is its affordable price point; it could be purchased for under $800. Despite the lower price, the C800 has a top speed of 12 MPH, incline of 12%, and a spacious 60-inch long running surface. This treadmill is also foldable with NordicTrack’s SpaceSaver design.

The C800 has a 2.75 continuous horsepower (CHP) motor, which is strong enough for walking and light jogging. If you want to regularly run on your treadmill, we recommend you upgrade to a treadmill with at least a 3.0 CHP motor.

Footprint, Portability, and Durability

The C800 has a fairly large footprint, like most NordicTrack models. It measures 35.75 inches wide by 78.3 inches long and 56.4 inches tall. This means the treadmill has a footprint of 3 by 6.5 feet. The treadmill is also foldable for post workout storage using NordicTrack’s signature SpaceSaver design, which features Easy Lift Assist, meaning you won’t have to struggle to lift and lower the running surface.

The C800 has a 325-pound user weight capacity, which is a bit more than the industry standard 300 pounds. We like the warranty on this machine: it has a lifetime frame warranty, two-year parts and one-year labor warranties. Today, many NordicTrack treadmills come with a 10-year frame warranty, which is interesting to note change. These things combine to indicate that the C800 is likely a fairly durable treadmill.

Ergonomics

A unique feature on the C800 is the FlexSelect cushioning system. This system can be turned on or off in order to select the level of cushioning you would like for your cardio session. When the system is turned on, you will experience a more soft and cushioned ride. If you turn the FlexSelect system off you’ll have a more firm and responsive running surface that is more similar to an outdoor run.

You’ll also be running on a spacious 60-inch-by-20-inch tread belt, which is upside of the larger footprint. The surface is large enough for even tall users to run comfortably.

Technology Benefits and Conveniences

The C800 doesn’t have a lot of technological features. It was discontinued by NordicTrack when they decided to switch to providing more high tech treadmills.

The C800 console has a backlit LED screen for tracking workout stats. The console also features One-Touch controls for both speed and incline. If you want guidance for your workotus, there are 24 built-in workout programs, and the treadmill is  compatible to provide even more workout options with a subscription to iFIT. The console has built-in speakers, water bottle holders, and a fan.

The C800 can also monitor your heart rate via Bluetooth chest strap capabilities and contact grip sensors incorporated on the hand rails. Unfortunately, you’ll have to purchase the chest strap separately.

Final Verdict of Our NordicTrack C800 Treadmill Review

The NordicTrack C800 was an affordable treadmill for home gyms with a lot of basic features that lacked many modern amenities. Despite the lack of amenities, the C800 could provide a solid workout for most home gym users looking to walk and jog on their treadmills. People wanting to run would need to upgrade to a machine with a higher powered 3.0 CHP motor.

NordicTrack discontinued the C800 to sell treadmills with built-in screens. We weren’t able to find the C800 on the secondhand market on or on sites like Sears, either. If you wanted this machine, a very similar but improved model you can purchase today would be the Horizon 7.0 AT. This treadmill retails at a higher price point than the C800 but can be purchased on sale for just under $1000.

NordicTrack C800 FAQs

What is the best NordicTrack treadmill for home use?

That depends on you and your home’s specific needs. The “best treadmill” may not be the best treadmill for you. Our favorite NordicTrack Treadmill is the Commercial 1750. We love the 14-inch touchscreen, incline and decline abilities, and spacious tread belt. It is also foldable and has an impressive 3.5 CHP motor.

It won’t work for people in smaller spaces because it is such a large and heavy machine. If that’s you check out our list of the best compact exercise equipment. The treadmill pick is the Echelon Stride. It collapses down to less than a foot! Just 10.25 inches.

How fast is NordicTrack C800?

The NordicTrack C800 has a top speed of 12 MPH.

Does the NordicTrack C800 have built-in workout programming?

Yes, the C800 has 24 workout programs built-into the console. It is also compatible with iFIT for thousands of additional workouts, but you’ll have to subscribe to iFIT to take advantage.

Can the NordicTrack C800 track my heart rate?

Yes, the C800 has both contact grip and Bluetooth chest strap heart rate monitoring abilities. However, you will have to purchase the chest strap monitor yourself, it doesn’t come with the treadmill.
