Kate’s 3-pound tub of protein cost $67 ($64 on Amazon). With 44 servings, that’s $1.52 per serving. That’s pretty good for a high protein supplement, and earned it 5 out of 5 stars.
We’re all pretty much taught that eggs are one of the best foods for a balanced diet and building muscle. Eggs are indeed full of protein and other nutrients, like vitamin D. Eggs also have a good amount of cholesterol, which some people may want to avoid. Egg protein powders consist of dehydrated egg whites that lock in the protein and exclude any fat.

“Egg protein is among the most easily digestible forms of protein among all foods,” says Destini Moody, RD, CSSD, LD. “Also, since egg whites are pretty much pure protein, there are minimal carbs or fat, which makes it a prime choice for those tightly controlling their macros.”
Whey protein powder is the gold standard protein supplement. Egg protein is a close second with an ideal amino acid profile and tons of health benefits, including promoting muscular development1. A review published in 20222 showed similar improvements in muscle growth, as well as visceral fat reduction, reduction in joint pain, and improvements in blood cholesterol. That said, there is little research on the effect of egg white protein powder on muscle growth.
“Because egg white protein is such a rich source of essential amino acids, I normally don’t recommend it to people on a budget as the cost of the egg albumin used to make it is incredibly high. But the cost is pretty much the only downside to taking egg white protein powder, outside of its slow digestion, which is even slower than casein. If you’re looking for the quick recovery you get from whey, this shouldn’t be your first choice,” Destini says.

Experience Using Naked Nutrition Egg Protein
Naked Nutrition’s Egg White Protein powder is about as simple and effective as it gets. Unless you’re looking for high-end grass fed whey protein, this might be all you need. Naked’s egg white powder is a high quality protein with no artificial sweeteners or additives. With a full suit of amino acids, a good serving of potassium (300 milligrams), and zero carbohydrates, it will fit most dietary needs.
Kate had a mostly great experience using Naked Egg White Protein. Kate is your typical whey protein fan, but was pleasantly surprised with this protein powder. She was happy with the price, and found the ingredient formulation to be ideal.
With 25 grams of protein, this powder is good for pretty much everything. Despite some weird tastes and poor mixing, Kate thinks this protein is a good option for those in search of an alternative to whey or casein.
Price Per Serving
A 3-pound tub of Naked’s Egg White Protein goes for $67.99 on their site ($64 on Amazon). With autoship it’s $55.39, which comes out to $1.23 per serving. That’s hard to beat (egg joke!), all things considered. For this, Kate gave the protein 5 stars.
Formulation
In terms of ingredients, Kate gave Naked 5 out of 5. The formulation consists of egg white powder, and sunflower lecithin. That’s it. No artificial sweeteners, no additives, no fillers. Few protein powders can make such a claim, and it’s a nice feature to boast about.
“I love the formulation of this protein powder. Twenty-five grams of protein per serving and only two ingredients is pretty hard to come by for a high-quality protein source,” Destini Moody, RD, CSSD, LD, says.
Taste and Solubility
Kate gave 3 stars to both taste and solubility, as both left a bit to be desired.
Note the egg protein is unflavored. Kate noted the protein didn’t have much of a smell, but said there is a taste. She tried a few different preparations, one as a smoothie, another with coffee. With the smoothie, Kate said the egg flavor still came through over the fruit. She preferred the coffee version, although a full serving may make the coffee too thick and the egg flavor might still come through.
As mentioned above, the egg protein doesn’t mix well with coffee or just water, so it earned 3 out of 5. She said solubility was much better with the smoothie, but she did note the protein seems buttery.
Taken together, you might want to experiment with different preparations, possibly more fruit or other foods to avoid that eggy taste. Or try a blender over a simple shaker cup, or add some peanut butter for taste and density.
Side Effects
Kate gave Naked 5 of 5 for side effects. This isn’t surprising considering the minimal ingredients.
“If you’re a person who finds that dairy-based protein powder like whey and casein upsets your stomach, egg white protein is a wonderful alternative,” says Destini Moody, RD, CSSD, LD.
That said, some people may experience bloating or indigestion when trying new proteins.
