Caroline is a former NCAA D1 Women’s College Soccer player who also played in the WPSL, the second highest level of professional women’s soccer in the United States. Although soccer was her first love, Caroline eats, sleeps, and breathes all things fitness. She credits her high school’s football coach, Jason Estep, with teaching her how to properly use a barbell at 15 years old and inspiring an enduring love for strength training. Caroline is also a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. Content wise, Caroline has a background in Public Relations and previously worked in the Communication department at Appalachian State University. When Caroline isn’t writing or working out, she works with dachshund rescue groups and listens to way too many true crime podcasts.

I’ll be honest. After a really long day, I’d rather someone that isn’t me pick. Pick what, you may ask? Literally anything––dinner, the show we watch, or even the workout I do. If this is speaking to you on a spiritual level, I have you covered, at least when it comes to the best iFIT workouts (don’t ask me to pick a restaurant).

Whether you’re looking for a quick strength-training session to hammer out or a more intense long run, I have an option for you. Get ready to add these to your favorites list (click the cute little heart in the upper right corner of the iFIT app) because we’re going to get sweaty, folks.

iFIT All of These Workouts Into One Weekend

Although I’ve tried a variety of iFIT workouts before, I knew I needed a quick refresher before recommending my favorites. In the pursuit to bring you, the reader, the best information possible, I bravely did all five of these workouts (plus a few more) over one weekend. Yes, I know, hold the applause.

Besides being a dutiful tester of iFIT workouts, I also know a thing or two about the fitness industry. And I’m not the only one. The team of expert product testers and reviewers at GGR is full of certified personal trainers, nutrition coaches, and former college athletes. We know fitness (and fitness equipment) inside and out, and want to share our years of expertise with you.

5 Best iFIT Workouts

  • Best iFIT Workout Overall: Haystack Rock 5K, Portland, Oregon
  • Best iFIT Workout for Beginners: Alex Morgan Bodyweight Cardio + Strength Enhancer
  • Best Running iFIT Workout: Gimmelwald Downhill Run, Switzerland
  • Best iFIT Strength Workout: Next-Level Strength Training-–Wk9 Wkt 2
  • Best iFIT Rowing Workout: Rock and Row Workout 5

Best iFIT Workout Overall: Haystack Rock 5K, Portland, Oregon

Good for: Someone ready to crush a run in a beautiful setting

Whether you’re utilizing an iFIT-compatible treadmill or are taking this workout to the pavement, you’ll likely enjoy this serene run. Knox Robinson pops on-screen, and immediately you’re transported to the beautiful Oregon coast with crisp, blue water in the background. Knox has a way of immediately bringing you serenity (I wish I could make a meditation tape using his voice), even when you’re about to complete a challenging run.

ifit haystack rock 5k

You’ll begin with a comfortable warm-up, which Knox recommends you complete at an RPE of 3, or if you’re using a treadmill, a speed of 4.0 MPH. He coaches you in a steady way, reminding you that he’s here to walk (er, run) you through this workout, but won’t be holding your hand––because you’re capable.

He amicably chats with you as you pant for close to 40 minutes, but with his playlist full of absolute bops (Doja Cat, anyone?), he makes it feel much shorter. Although this workout is marked for intermediate runners, I think beginners will feel equally empowered during the Haystack Rock 5K––just don’t forget to take it at a pace that works for you.

Best iFIT Workout for Beginners: Alex Morgan Bodyweight Cardio + Strength Enhancer

Good for: Those new to exercise or those who don’t have any equipment on-hand

I won’t lie––I fanboyed a little when I saw Alex Morgan did a series of workouts for iFIT. As a former women’s soccer player, she’s to me what Tom Brady is to quarterbacks: Exceptional and worth emulating. Even better, she made a beginner-friendly strength/cardio session that can be done with nothing but your bodyweight (and a mat if you have one).

ifit bodyweight cardio

Alex leads you through a sequence of stretches to help prime your body for the workout ahead, which she says will include a variety of movements like reverse lunges, jump squats, and curtsy lunges. Each movement is done without breaks for 40 seconds until the circuit is completed.

For those who are new to exercise or don’t have any equipment, the Bodyweight Cardio + Strength Enhancer is a great option. Alex is quick to provide modifications for things like jumping, which also makes it a good choice for people with injuries or limitations.

Best Running iFIT Workout: Gimmelwald Downhill Run, Switzerland

Good for: Beautiful views and a calf-burning run around the world

The Alps in Switzerland are so picturesque, they almost look fake, especially as instructor Tommy Rivs Puzey zig-zags down them. The green trails are dotted with rocks, which makes this workout appear half hike and half downhill run.

ifit gimmelwald downhill run

I’d strongly recommend doing this workout on a treadmill, preferably on one of the ProForm or NordicTrack machines that has decline options, unless you have access to a super steep hill.

Tommy is clearly an experienced runner. In between his pro tips about stride length, Tommy rattles off a variety of fun facts about Switzerland, which I found charming. Especially when I’m trying to grind through a difficult run, I always appreciate things that make the time feel like it is moving.

Best iFIT Strength Workout: Next-Level Strength Training––Wk9 Wkt 2

Good for: Those who need direction for a solid, lower-body workout

Although lifting heavy things up and putting them back down are two of my favorite things, sometimes I want a little guidance. In this case, iFIT instructor John Peel is the man for the job.

ifit next level strength training

The Dale Earnhardt Jr.-look-alike crafted a series of workouts that hit the upper, lower, and total-body.

All in all, John did a whopping 12 weeks of classes with a total of 42 workouts. This specific series (and this particular workout) is geared towards intermediate exercisers, but it can easily be modified with your preferred weights if you’re a beginner.

I noticed that a variety of iFIT members mentioned how sore their legs were the next day after this workout––and I tend to agree. If you’d also like to have difficulties sitting on the toilet the next day, this Next-Level Strength Training class is a good option for you.

Best iFIT Rowing Workout: Rock and Row Workout 5

Good for: Rower-enthusiasts who want to pump up their heart rate without spending tons of time

If you like the feeling of studio classes but in an on-demand format, you’ll probably want to press play on this workout ASAP. The instructor, Jesse Corbin, is high-energy and leads the class through a few quick good-mornings before hopping on the rower. He enthusiastically reminds the class participants to utilize proper form throughout the class, especially as they get tired.

ifit rock and row

I especially appreciated his insight into generating more power during your rowing workout. Jesse suggests moving your body slower throughout each stroke, but using our legs, back, and arms to be more dynamic.

Throughout the course of the workout, Jesse was able to keep my attention, which is admittedly a little difficult on a rowing machine. Unlike other instructors, he doesn’t really chat much about anything outside of the workout. In this case, his cues were frequent and great reminders to stay focused on the task at hand.

iFIT Workout Honorable Mentions

Here are a few additional iFIT classes I’ve tried (and enjoyed), but that didn’t make my top five favorites:

Best iFIT Exercise Bike Workout: Bunker Hill Progressive Ride, Boston, Massachusetts

Best iFIT Elliptical Workout: Next-Level Training Series Workout 15 with Gideon Akande

Best iFIT Yoga Workout: Being Light, The Pūpūkea Happy Trails, Hawaii with Anamaria Ramirez

Best iFIT Mind Workout: Releasing and Transforming Anger with Dr. Eva Selhub

Best iFIT Workouts FAQs

What are the best iFIT workouts?

After trying lots of different iFIT workouts, I’ve compiled a list of my top 6:

Best iFIT Workout Overall: Haystack Rock 5K, Portland, Oregon
Best iFIT Workout for Beginners: Alex Morgan Bodyweight Cardio + Strength Enhancer
Best Running iFIT Workout: Gimmelwald Downhill Run, Switzerland
Best iFIT Strength Workout: Next-Level Strength Training-–Wk9 Wkt 2
Best iFIT Walking Workout: Las Chorreras Waterfall Steady-State Walk, Costa Rica
Best iFIT Rowing Workout: Rock and Row Workout 5

Who is the best trainer on iFIT?

This is definitely up to personal preference, but my favorite iFIT trainer is probably John Peel. He teaches various types of classes––biking, running, walking, and interval training. He’s always really upbeat and encouraging, which I find motivating. Other popular instructors include Hannah Eden, Alex Gregory, and Ashley Paulson.

Does iFIT help you lose weight?

When combined with a nutritious diet, exercise classes like those offered on iFIT can aid in the weight loss process. However, please speak to a licensed medical professional before attempting any type of weight loss––Google isn’t a substitute for a doctor.

Where are the workout series set for iFIT?

iFIT has an extensive workout library in a variety of states, countries, and locations. You may find a running series in New Zealand, while the next treadmill workout you do could be in-studio in Utah. Take a look around the app or at an iFIT-enabled machine––you’ll be sure to find a wide range of workout programs in fun locations.
