As a longtime lifter and certified personal trainer, I’ve learned to appreciate how different strength training tools can help you achieve specific goals. That said, if you’re looking for one piece of equipment that can help you develop your cardiovascular fitness, pack on muscle, and enhance your overall athleticism, look no further than the almighty kettlebell.

While there are plenty of brands to choose from when choosing the best kettlebell for your needs and wants. GIANT Lifting has garnered our attention for some time. The brand’s V3 Kettlebell lineup boasts an impressive weight range, affordable pricing, and durable cast iron construction. The question still lingers, though—is it the kettlebell for your home gym setup?

In this GIANT V3 Kettlebell review, I’ll share my first-hand experience and break down all your options so you can decide if it’s time to go big (err, GIANT) or go home.

We Swing It, Squat It, and Drop It (On Purpose) to Test Kettlebells

The Garage Gym Reviews team is made up of a range of dedicated fitness experts, including certified personal trainers, nutrition coaches, competitive strength athletes, and more. Over the years, we’ve gotten our hands on over 16 of the best standard and adjustable kettlebells on the market; the GIANT V3s, included.

Determining the best ‘bells of the bunch involves more than a few sets of Turkish get-ups, though. Our team puts every free weight through a wringer of trials in accordance with our kettlebell testing methodology. These findings are then used to determine our ratings (based on a 1-to-5 scale) in key categories, including:

  • Construction: When looking at construction aspects of a given kettlebell, we want to see a profile that feels balanced in-hand with a solid composition that can withstand regular home workouts. A rating of 3 out of 5 illustrates a ‘bell with a consistent shape and comfortable profile, albeit with minor defects such as low-quality welds or an uneven base. Higher scores are awarded to kettlebells showcasing premium construction, a perfectly flat base, and even weight distribution.
  • Durability: A kettlebell’s resiliency can vary depending on its profile. When grading standard silhouettes (as opposed to adjustable profiles), we’re primarily seeking out steel or cast iron kettlebells, as these materials have been proven to withstand the rigors of regimented training. We also tend to prefer kettlebells with an exterior coating (powdercoat, e-coat, or vinyl) that can better resist rust and chipping. We assign a rating of 3 out of 5 or higher if the kettlebell maintains its structural integrity and finish even with frequent drops and repeated use.
  • Handle: Does the handle provide sufficient grip so the kettlebell won’t slip out of your hands? Can you perform both one- and two-handed exercises comfortably? An ergonomic design promotes a natural hand position, helping you maintain control during training. We award at least a 3 out of 5 to kettlebell handles that feel comfortable in use and profiles that allow you to maintain control during training.
  • Weight Options: Does the manufacturer offer both light and heavy weights for a variety of kettlebell exercises? We award scores of 3 or higher to kettlebells that are available across a moderate weight range to support growth and performance efforts across your kettlebell workout programs.

The Giant Lifting V3 Kettlebells are a durable set of kettlebells that come with color-coded handles for easy weight identification. Available in a wide range of weights, they’re well-suited for lifters of all experience levels.

What Our Tester Says:

“You get a great grip with this, and it feels like the coating can take a beating along with your workout. The black powder coating is helpful with sweaty hands.”

A Quick Look at the GIANT Lifting V3 Kettlebell

By way of Washington state, GIANT Lifting is a go-to for plenty of home gym essentials. In addition to the V3 Kettlebells, the brand also offers such equipment as power racks, adjustable benches, specialty barbells, functional trainers, and more. We’ve had the pleasure of testing a handful of GIANT-branded gear and have yet to be unimpressed with the assortment of high-quality strength and conditioning products.

RELATED: GIANT Lifting Adjustable Weight Bench Review

When it comes to the V3 Kettlebells, these versatile free weights utilize a gravity die-cast construction, which results in a strong, smooth profile that’s less ready for high-intensity training.

Similar to the brand’s range of dumbbells, the V3 Kettlebells are available in weight totals ranging from as low as 4 kilograms (9 pounds) all the way up to 48 kilograms (106 pounds). This assortment can be ideal for promoting progressive overload in training. “Progressive overload is when you gradually increase the weight, frequency, or number of repetitions in your training routine,” states Christopher Mohr, PhD, RD. “This continual challenge can be beneficial in helping your muscles grow stronger.”

The kettlebells also boast a tacky yet smooth handle (thanks to the impressive powder-coated exterior) as well as color-coded banding near the base of the grip for easier weight identification. Granted, the color-coded system is less apparent than, say, what you’d see in a range of Titan Fitness Competition Kettlebells, but it can make weight selection mid-training less of a hassle.

Before You Buy

  • You can purchase these GIANT Lifting kettlebells either as free weights or part of select weight bundles—there are no options for paired weight sets.
  • Similar to other fitness equipment offerings from the brand, the V3 Kettlebells can be purchased with eligible HSA or FSA funds. Additionally financing options are available, too, for those looking to parcel out their home gym purchase over time.
  • While not the most expensive kettlebells we’ve seen, our tester rates the value at a modest 3 out of 5 since the most expensive ‘bells can easily clock in at over $260 dollars per free weight.

Are the GIANT Lifting V3 Kettlebells Worth It?

Although these kettlebells aren’t exactly cheap, you get what you pay for. They check all the boxes we look for in terms of build quality by utilizing a gravity die-cast design for enhanced durability. Plus, the powdercoat finish acts as a protective barrier against rust and corrosion. Meanwhile, the handle is smooth but not too smooth so you can still maintain control through your various kettlebell swings and presses.

A Giant v3 24kg Kettlebell resting on a plyo box.

From a price perspective, the V3 Kettlebells are roughly on par with Rogue Kettlebells, which also showcase a cast profile with a powder-coated exterior. For example, both companies sell their 9-pound model for $35. However, the 106-pound V3 costs about $70 more than the same size kettlebell from Rogue. So, if you’re on a tight budget and want to get heavier weights, you may need to consider other options.

Ultimately, though, the excellent construction and reliable performance make the V3s a worthwhile investment, especially if you’re starting or progressing through a kettlebell program and want a dependable, do-it-all option.

Great for:

  • Athletes wanting a durable standard kettlebell available in multiple weight totals
  • Beginners in need of a consistent kettlebell without an aggressive powdercoat
  • Those that prefer to purchase free weights individually

Not recommended for:

  • Individuals who prefer a more aggressive grip for better control during high-rep, high-intensity workouts
  • People seeking kettlebells offered in multiple bundled weight sets
  • Athletes training in small spaces—a full kettlebell set will take up more room than a single adjustable kettlebell

Using the GIANT Lifting V3 Kettlebells

I personally tested these GIANT Lifting V3 Kettlebells and took them through the wringer of lower- and upper-body kettlebell workouts. In these sessions, I took note of how the ‘bells felt in-hand, how well they rested in racked positions, and how easy it was to maintain my grip during exercises. Frankly, I was impressed by the performance, and quite enjoyed the trials, even going so far as to say they’re one of my favorite designs we’ve had in the testing center.

Let’s swing into more details and uncover how these GIANT V3 kettlebells stood up to our rigorous examinations.

Construction and Durability

Boasting a premium look and feel, it didn’t take long to confirm that GIANT knocked it out of the park in terms of construction and durability. The V3 Kettlebells easily earned perfect 5-out-of-5 scores in both key categories for several reasons.

First, the powder coat finish is smooth with no noticeable defects or bumps. I have a pair of generic kettlebells from Amazon that have a cheap e-coat finish, and the V3s are simply superior in terms of grip and durability. I’d much rather partake in kettlebell weightlifting protocols with the V3s, if given the opportunity.

I also appreciate that GIANT includes both metric and imperial weight totals stamped across each kettlebell. When my heart rate is pumping, the last thing I want to do mid-workout is break out a calculator to ensure my working totals are where they need to be. The V3s also feature color-coded banding across the handles for even easier weight identification during training. My only callout (and it’s a minor one) is that the stamping isn’t easy to see unless you’re up close to the free weights—a sacrifice for the clean, aesthetically pleasing black-on-black design.

All said, it’s difficult to find a major flaw in the V3’s makeup. The high-quality construction translates to trusted use day in and day out. If you’re wanting that premium in-hand feel for your kettlebell training, these GIANT Lifting silhouettes have my vote.

Handle

A poorly designed handle can make or break a kettlebell. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised by the V3s during testing. The powdercoat is grippy but not so abrasive that my hands were torn to shreds by workout’s end. Plus, the spacing between the handle and bell is large enough to support single- and dual-handed movements.

In terms of the handle’s diameter, the 53-pound kettlebell I had in testing measured in at roughly 39 millimeters. Compared to the average kettlebell (34.87 millimeters) this is a little larger, but in my opinion, it felt fitting for the weight in question. It felt comfortable, and I was able to maintain full control even when I performed single-arm kettlebell swings.

A close look at the Giant v3 24kg Kettlebell in our tester's hand.

In addition, I like that GIANT uses color-coded bands on the handles to make it easy to identify the weight. This is a useful aesthetic touch that can help make your workouts more efficient. As a result, I gave the V3s a 5-out-of-5 rating in this critical category.

Weight Options

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned lifter, having the flexibility to train with both light and heavy weights can be a huge win. GIANT Lifting makes that possible by offering the V3 Kettlebells in 13 working weights ranging from 9 to 106 pounds.

That’s a robust range that gives lifters of all experience levels the opportunity to incorporate kettlebell training into their routine. Plus, GIANT sells an Rx Bundle (35/53 lbs), an Rx+ Bundle (35/53/70 lbs) and a total kettlebell set with nine weight options for those who want to make a more sizable investment. As such, we rate the weight options at a perfect 5 out of 5.

Workout Experience

Let’s cut right to the chase: This is one of my favorite kettlebells, bar none. I performed single-arm and two-handed swings, kettlebell cleans, goblet squats, overhead presses, biceps curls, and RDLs throughout my trials and enjoyed every second of training with these free weights.

Stephen Sheehan, CPT, CNC, performs a goblet squat with a Giant v3 24kg Kettlebell

The V3s are stable, easy to hold, and feel rock-solid in your hands. Plus, while I had no issues with controlling the weight during exercises, the powder-coated handle does have enough of a texture that should hold lifting chalk well. This could come in handy (pun intended) if you’re looking to superset your strength training with some heavy carries or cleans.

Truly, I have zero complaints about training with these kettlebells. They’re fun and stress-free, allowing you to focus on your technique rather than fighting against your fitness equipment.

Yes4All kettlebells certainly aren’t on the same level as some of the other contenders in this lineup, but they’re affordable and a great option if you’re just starting your fitness journey. Most importantly, if you have small hands, you should have no trouble maintaining control during your exercise routine.

As with any piece of home gym equipment—from the best squat racks to dumbbells, barbells, treadmills, and beyond—you have some variety when choosing a proper set of kettlebells. While we can compare the GIANT Lifting V3s to a plethora of powder-coating cast ‘bells from the likes of Bells of Steel, REP Fitness, and others, we thought to use this section to showcase how they stack up to a more budget-friendly profile in the Yes4All Vinyl Coated Kettlebell.

Available on Amazon, these Yes4All ‘bells can be a wallet-minded option for athletes looking for some revamped strength training equipment. We like the vinyl coating that gives each weight a nice, appealing aesthetic, but do warn that the exterior can be more prone to scuffs and deterioration more so than the V3’s powdercoating. Additionally, the vinyl will tend to be smoother, which can be fine for medium-paced training, but can tend to pose a problem once your palms begin to sweat.

Where the Yes4All kettlebells outshine the GIANT Lifting weights is in price point; costs start at roughly $13.73 for the lightest available weight, whereas the V3s begin at roughly $35.

While this price hike could be a turn-off for some, we feel the extra expense is worthwhile for the right buyer. For lifters serious about kettlebell training, the V3s are a superior long-term investment that will pay dividends if you care for them properly.

Customer Experience

GIANT Lifting earns a strong 4-out-of-5 customer experience score for several reasons. First, we love that these kettlebells come with free shipping. This allows you to keep more money in your pocket (or buy more kettlebells over time).

In addition, while all GIANT products come with at least a one-year warranty, the brand’s kettlebells are supported by 10-year coverage. That’s a huge bonus that you simply don’t see from many manufacturers.

GIANT also has a solid return policy. You can return new, unopened items within 30 days of purchase for a store credit or full refund. That said, customers are responsible for all return shipping or freight costs. Processing will take between three and five business days upon receipt of the returned equipment, according to the brand’s retail page.

Final Verdict of Our Giant V3 Kettlebell Review

From the excellent build quality to the variety of weight options, the GIANT Lifting V3 Kettlebells earn our praise as some of the best kettlebells available today. While some may prefer a more aggressive powdercoat for enhanced grip during intense training, the balanced, smooth aesthetic is easy to control through a variety of movements, and we also rest easy knowing these free weights are covered for up to 10 years against defects and functional failures. Before rushing to add these V3s to your cart, though, here are some final takeaways:

  • The handle diameter varies depending on your chosen weight, so those with smaller hands may find heavier totals too cumbersome for effective workouts.
  • While some bundled sets are available, the GIANT Lifting V3s are primarily sold as individual kettlebells.
  • GIANT Lifting V3 Kettlebells can be purchased with eligible HSA or FSA funds, which could be a perk if you plan to make a fitness purchase toward the end of the calendar year. We’ve also gathered some GIANT Lifting discount codes to potentially help lower your overall expenses.

Giant V3 Kettlebell Review: FAQs

Can you actually build muscle with kettlebells?

Yes, kettlebell training can stimulate muscle growth when programmed with progressive overload and sufficient resistance. According to a 2024 study1, kettlebell training can enhance muscular strength, power, endurance, explosive power, and postural coordination.

What are the pros and cons of the Giant V3 kettlebell?

We like the color-coded handle, high-quality powder coat finish, ample weight options, and overall sturdiness of the V3 Kettlebell. We don’t have many callouts other than the black-on-black etching and the fact that they’re not sold in pairs.

What brand of kettlebell is best?

The “best” brand of kettlebells can depend on your personal needs and fitness goals. From our testing experience, though, we can confidently recommend kettlebells from the likes of REP Fitness, Rogue, GIANT Lifting, and Titan Fitness, among others.
