lululemon blissfeel 2

From the brand best known for its leggings comes the Blissfeel 2, the second iteration of Lululemon’s popular running shoe. The Blissfeels were originally released in early 2022 and, unsurprisingly, gathered a cult following not unlike the brand’s activewear.

We tried and reviewed the original Blissfeels in 2022, and Lululemon announced the release of the second generation in early March 2023. This Lululemon Blissfeel 2 review is a quick look at the new version, with an in-depth version to follow after we spend some time with the shoes on our feet.

Longtime Lululemon Wearers

From laces to leggings, our expert product testers have adorned themselves in Lululemon apparel of all sorts. We’re more than familiar with the brand and, quite frankly, we’ve come to have high expectations of Lululemon (and this feels fair given its price points). Our testers were some of the first to try Lululemon shoes last year when they launched, and we’ve been keeping up with the line since then, eagerly awaiting updates on the Blissfeels and more.

Cons

  • Costly at around $148

Bottom Line

The lululemon blissfeel running shoe may be a great fit for people looking for a neutral running shoe from a well-loved brand.

A Quick Look at the Lululemon Blissfeel Running Shoes

lululemon blissfeel 2 review

The Lululemon running shoes are one of four shoe models in the brand’s lineup that are designed specifically with the biomechanics of the female foot in mind.

If you’re wondering how they did this, here’s how:

Not only did Lululemon recruit a number of athletes to participate in multiple rounds of wear-testing, but the brand also used data from more than a million foot scans that pressure-mapped women’s feet.

How’s that for R&D?

Before You Buy

  • The Blissfeel is a neutral running shoe, meaning it’s best for runners who do not over- or under-pronate
  • The upper is made of mesh, so they’re not waterproof; keep that in mind if you run in wet conditions
  • These are road running shoes, not trail runners

Are the Lululemon Blissfeel 2s Worth It?

lululemon blissfeel 2 review

In my original Blissfeel running shoe review, my first impressions weren’t all that great. I didn’t feel that the Blissfeels stacked up to shoes from tried-and-tested brands like Nike, Adidas, ASICS, or On Running.

I didn’t think they were bad, and I didn’t suffer any crazy blisters or a glaring lack of arch support or anything like that. However, I just couldn’t pin them as a pair of the best running shoes.

That said, a lot of people love them. The proof is in the numbers and in the customer reviews.

I really do love that Lululemon is making shoes specifically for women’s feet and releasing a new-and-improved iteration of these well-loved shoes. And, it seems the brand worked on improving a number of initial complaints.

At a cost of about $148, these shoes fall right around the average cost for running shoes these days. A good pair from any reputable running shoe brand will run you about that much.

Great for:

  • Runners with a neutral stride
  • Midfoot to forefoot striking
  • People who want a soft underfoot feeling
  • Road runners (not trail runners)

Not recommended for:

  • Beginner runners looking for their first running shoe (might be better to start with a less expensive option)
  • People with wide feet
  • People who over- or under-pronate significantly

Lululemon Blissfeel 2 Construction and Materials

Upper

The upper is made of “engineered mesh,” according to a Lululemon representative. That’s all the detail I was offered on the new shoes, so if I had to guess, I’d say the 2s will closely mimic the original Blissfeels and feature a flexible, soft upper.

This means the Blissfeels aren’t great for wet conditions, but are good for anyone who wants a lot of movement in the forefoot. I imagine the Blissfeel 2s will be breathable just like the original iteration.

Midsole

Lululemon doesn’t disclose exactly what the midsole is made of, but since these are fairly basic running shoes, my guess is EVA foam. The Blissfeel 1s felt a bit too plushy for me.

Would I wear them for a half-marathon? Probably not—I don’t think they have enough responsiveness for longer distances. But for lower-mileage easy runs, the Blissfeels have plenty of midsole cushioning.

Luckily, a representative says that the new model features a “3D-molded midfoot panel that adds stability to every stride,” so hopefully that solves the “sinking” problem I experienced with the original ones.

lululemon blissfeel 2 review

Outsole

The Blissfeels feature a basic rubber outsole with moderate lugs. They’ll do best on road conditions; I wouldn’t recommend them for very wet or slippery conditions, or trail runs.

Heel

A Lululemon representative said that the Blissfeel 2s feature a “refined upper with a seamless frame that extends through the heel to create a cradled sensation.”

I hope this means that the heel collar is stiffer, because one of my main complaints with the original version is that the heel cup folded in on itself from the first time I wore them. Despite the raised heel tab, they’re not easy to pull on, either.

I really, really hope to be able to slip the Blissfeel 2s on and off without having to undo and redo the laces each time. That was one of my biggest complaints with the original.

Toe Box

I found the toe box on the Blissfeel 1s to be slightly narrow. Lululemon does advise on the website that people who have wider feet size up by half a size.

Blissfeel vs Blissfeel 2: What’s New?

Lululemon didn’t provide much information about the new shoes pre-launch. Here’s what I know, from a Lululemon representative.

The new Blissfeels feature:

  • Refined upper with a seamless frame that extends through the heel to create a cradled sensation
  • A 3D-molded midfoot panel that adds stability to every stride
  • A new, layered textile that contours your foot

At the time of writing, it looks like Lululemon phased out the Blissfeel 1s in preparation for the launch of the 2s. There is only one colorway in the originals, Black/White, online at the time of writing.

Read the full original Lululemon Blissfeel review.

Customer Reviews

Seeing as the Blissfeel 2s just launched, there aren’t any customer reviews yet. However, the Blissfeel 1s consistently get positive customer reviews.

One reviewer even wrote, “I have worn the same kind of shoes for running for 30 years and these made me switch! Says a lot about this shoe and the support this shoe offers.”

Another says the Blissfeels are “soft as clouds” and “These shoes are probably the most comfortable running shoes I’ve put on my feet.”

Others say they can wear the shoes for all-day walking and that they get lots of compliments on the style and colors.

Negative reviews mention concerns with durability, such as the laces fraying.

Customer Experience

One of my favorite things about the Lululemon footwear line is that the brand offers a 30-day trial for them. You can try them, and if you don’t like them, just return them (in any condition!) for a full refund. Lululemon says that lightly worn shoes will be sold in their “Like New” store.

The shoes ship in three to 10 business days and you can opt for a “pay in four” plan with Klarna or Afterpay.

Final Verdict of Our Lululemon Blissfeel 2 Review

The Lululemon Blissfeel 2 running shoes just dropped, and we’re excited to try them so we can update this review with our experience. I’m hoping that the new release fixes some of the major complaints I had with the previous version.

  • Lululemon Blissfeel running shoes are neutral shoes with moderate cushioning
  • The upper is made of mesh, so it’s breathable and flexible
  • The midsole is foam and has quite a lot of give

Lululemon Blissfeel 2 FAQs

Does Lululemon make good shoes?

While Lululemon isn’t a footwear-first company like HOKA, Saucony, or Brooks, we’re rather impressed with the initial footwear line and think it’s great to see a brand with a women-first approach. We are excited to see what comes next and hope to see Lululemon refine its footwear offerings.

What kind of shoes does Lululemon make?

The activewear behemoth currently offers four types of shoes in its lineup:

-The Blissfeel running shoe, now on its second iteration
-The Strongfeel training shoe, designed for weight training
-The Chargefeel cross-training and HIIT workout shoe, which comes in a low and mid style
-The Restfeel slides

Are Lululemon shoes good for running?

The Lululemon Blissfeel shoes are designed for running and are a good neutral running shoe for people who don’t over- or under-pronate.
