Despite its oval shape, the Nordik tub doesn’t accommodate tall people very well. As Lindsay puts it, “This tub does feel small. I’m almost 5-feet, 5-inches and I had a hard time feeling like my whole body was able to be immersed under the water all at once.”
“Either my shoulders were popping out, or even my knees were slightly popping out,” she continues. “So, if you are taller than that, this might not be a good tub for you unless you are prepared to just huddle up in the fetal position underneath the water.”
Conveniences
Whether you go for the Compact Pro or Ultimate Pro bundle, you’ll get a powerful 1-HP chiller—a huge bonus for a tub of this type. In our experience, most inflatable systems use a 0.5- or 0.75-HP chiller, which can take significantly longer to reach the desired temperature. However, the Nordik’s chiller can cool water down to 37 degrees Fahrenheit in roughly four to five hours (a strong performance for an inflatable setup).
“For an inflatable tub to come along with a 1-horsepower chiller at this price point is actually really good,” Lindsay emphasizes.
The Ultimate Pro chiller can also heat water up to 113 degrees Fahrenheit, giving you the versatility for both cold plunging and hot soaking. While Lindsay doubts it actually reaches that high, it’s a nice option to have. The chiller includes a 20-micron filtration system designed to catch sand, rust, and small debris to help keep the water clean between draining protocols. Plus, you can set the water temperature via the Smart Life app, allowing you to prepare the tub ahead of your scheduled soak.
While the chiller does well at cooling and heating the water, Lindsay has two callouts. First, the chiller only measures the temperature in Celsius, which she found frustrating since most folks know Fahrenheit ranges. She also warns that the chiller is “incredibly noisy” when running, so it’s not ideal for bedrooms or quiet indoor spaces where you want to minimize distractions. Draining and Cleaning
Nordik Recovery suggests different cold plunge maintenance protocols depending on the exact setup of your tub (tub only, with a chiller and filter, or with a chiller, filter, and external ozone system).
When using just the inflatable ice bath by itself, start by filling it to the max water line with clean, filtered water and add about one-third of a bottle of Nordik’s water treatment solution to help keep the water balanced and clean. Every couple of weeks, wipe down the interior with a damp cloth, keep the surrounding area tidy, and always cover the bath when it’s not in use to block out debris. Monthly, inspect the tub for any wear and tear and replace the water regularly, typically at least once a month or more often if the water becomes cloudy or dirty. When you do change the water, drain it fully, clean the surfaces with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, refill with filtered water, and re-add the water treatment solution.
For setups that include a Nordik chiller and external filter, the initial fill process is the same as the bath-only setup, and the water treatment solution is still recommended. Bi-weekly care involves not only wiping down the interior and keeping the area clean, but also regularly inspecting and cleaning or replacing the external filter to prevent buildup. Aim for filter replacements every two to three weeks. Monthly checks should include scanning the bath for potential issues and replacing the water every couple of months. When it comes time to refresh the water, in addition to draining and cleaning the tub, you should also clean the chiller. Remove the dirty filter and run a bottle of Nordik Chiller Cleanser through the system for a few hours to help clear internal components before refilling and treating the water.
If your setup also includes an ozone sanitation system along with the chiller and filter, initial filling and bi-weekly surface care remain the same, as do regular filter inspections. Rather than monthly water changes, though, the recommendation is to replace the water approximately every three months, unless frequent use or signs of cloudiness call for more frequent changes. For deep cleaning, drain the bath, clean all interior and exterior surfaces, and add a bottle of chiller cleanser into the bath before running both the chiller and ozone system for a few hours. This helps purify the system’s plumbing and components. After cleaning, refill with fresh water, add a treatment solution, and you’re ready to go.

Lindsay has mixed thoughts on the value of the Nordik Recovery Ice Tub. “My opinion on inflatable cold tubs, in general, is that I just don’t think they’re worth it. We have had inflatables at home and there always seems to be problems. What I would do if I were you is I would actually probably just save extra money and buy a legit cold tub if that’s something that’s important to you.”
“My overall thoughts on this are that it’s kind of small, it’s kind of loud, and I don’t like that we’ve already got a leak in the side of the tub,” Lindsay continues. “My positive notes are that it’s at a really good price point and I do think that the filtration system is actually pretty good. And it does come with a 1 horsepower chiller, so it’s kind of a mixed bag for me.” As such, we give this Nordik ice tub a conservative 3 out of 5 for overall value.

“I think that is a huge upfront callout,” Lindsay notes. “If I didn’t keep the box, I would have no ability to return it.”
That said, we do appreciate that Nordik Recovery includes a two-year warranty on both its inflatable tubs and chillers, along with a one-year warranty for accessories. The warranty protects against defects in materials and workmanship but does not cover normal wear and tear, damage from improper use, or exposure to freezing conditions.
