Editor’s Note: The NordicTrack E 7.0 is no longer in production. We suggest viewing the NordicTrack Commercial 9.9 as the best alternative, or view our Best NordicTrack Ellipticals roundup for more options.

There’s nothing quite like a well-made elliptical trainer, and that’s precisely what you’ll get with the NordicTrack E 7.0. This elliptical machine offers multiple resistance levels and extended stride length. So if getting a good cardio workout is what you desire, this can meet that expectation.

With this machine’s convenient technological features, double-digit built-in workout apps, and focus on comfort, it’s hard not to love it. Plus, since it’s discontinued, you don’t have to worry about spending a lot of money to obtain it. This elliptical trainer used to cost around $1,000, but nowadays, you might be able to snag it for under 600 bucks. Seriously, it’s the quality and attractive price point for me.

You’ll want to keep reading our NordicTrack E 7.0 Elliptical review to find out if this now-discontinued machine is right for you.

Low-Impact Machines But High-Impact Reviews

When we think about ellipticals, one of the first things that comes to mind is how low-impact they are. However, you certainly don’t want the reviews you come across to be low-impact, too. You want them to be helpful and aid you in your decision-making, which is exactly why we’re coming through with high-impact reviews.

Our GGR testers, which include personal trainers, exercise specialists, athletes, and more, are experts in their respective fields. As a result, we can try out different types of home gym equipment and provide folks like you with the honest and informative feedback you need and want.

You can trust our opinion because we’ve tried all kinds of ellipticals, including the quietest ones, the ones with the best rear drive, and even those with the best inclines. We know our stuff so much that we could tell you what kind of workouts you should do for weight loss or even which specific muscle groups ellipticals target. Therefore, when you’re looking for reviews, rely on those that are high-impact and done by real-deal professionals.

Bottom Line

Intended for commercial use, the Commercial 9.9 Elliptical is a sturdy treadmill that offers interactive programming through its required 4-year membership to iFIT.

Back in the day, you could find this elliptical on Amazon, but nowadays, the only way you’re going to find it is if an individual is selling it. Retailers just aren’t carrying it anymore, but that’s OK, because there are alternatives you can consider. One such option is the NordicTrack Commercial 9.9 elliptical

One of the most impressive features of this elliptical trainer is the technology. You’re getting a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth audio capabilities, and Google Maps technology, just to name a few. Plus, if you enjoy having access to hundreds of interactive workouts with personal trainers, you’re in luck. This elliptical trainer is iFIT compatible and offers a 30-day free trial for those who are interested.

In addition to the tech, let’s get into the kind of workout experience you’d have available to you. The NordicTrack Commercial 9.9 has 22 resistance levels, a 25-pound flywheel, and up to a 20-degree incline. In other words, you’d be in for a heck of a ride.

I love an inclusive machine, and this one definitely is, with its 350-pound user weight capacity. However, it’s heavy, so be prepared for a 244-pound product in your home gym space.

Overall, for almost $1,500, you get a durable and sturdy elliptical that provides comfort, sound engineering, and outstanding technical features. It would’ve been nice if it offered a longer stride length, though, as this one caps at about 18.7 inches. Nonetheless, if this sounds like the best elliptical machine for you, I’d say go for it!

Key Features of the NordicTrack E 7.0 Elliptical

The NordicTrack E 7.0 is a cross-trainer that’ll meet the needs of beginners and advanced athletes alike. It’s got 20 levels of resistance, so you’ll undoubtedly be in for a sweat-breaking workout if you place it on its highest level. Pair that with the machine’s 0- to 20-degree power incline, and you’ll find your glutes and hamstrings howling.

The stride length here is impressive also. Many ellipticals in this price range only provide an 18-inch step length, but this one goes up to 20 inches. That means if you’re between 5-foot-3 and 6-feet, this should accommodate you well. If you’re not sure, consider that most commercial ellipticals at the gym have 20-inch stride lengths.

Height-wise, this elliptical will work for most, but what about weight? The NordicTrack E 7.0 elliptical trainer has a 300-pound user weight capacity, which isn’t bad. Some cross-trainers only accommodate up to 225 pounds, so I’d say this one will work for most people.

One other admirable feature on this machine is the number of preset programs it has. You’ll find a total of 20. Some programs are performance-based, and others are calorie burning. I’d consider this a good mix, especially if you’re new to ellipticals and aren’t sure what to do.

Footprint, Portability, and Durability

If you were looking for a light elliptical, this wouldn’t be the right one for you. Some are as light as 60 pounds, but this one is a mighty 214 pounds. Its 67-inch height by 25-inch width by 66-inch length is significant, so you’ll want to make sure you have enough room to lodge it. Check that your ceiling is tall enough to house the NordicTrack E 7.0, or you’ll find yourself disappointed. Given its size, this isn’t a piece of fitness equipment you’ll want to be moving around often. If you really need to move it though, recruit an assistant, as it requires two people to do so.

NordicTrack is known for producing sturdy and durable machines, and this one is no different. This is a solid piece of equipment that’s backed by a lifetime warranty on the frame, which speaks to its quality.

Ergonomics

I’d say the 15-pound inertia-enhanced flywheel improves the overall performance of this elliptical and provides a comfortable experience. Most users report having a smooth and quiet ride that doesn’t feel choppy and uncomfortable to pedal. You’ll have to put some energy in to build the elliptical’s momentum and get it moving, but it’s not so much that it’ll be hard on your joints.

The oversized foot pedals are nice to have, too, as it’d be a nuisance not being able to let your foot move around some.

Unfortunately, the NordicTrack E 7.0 Z elliptical trainer doesn’t have a workout fan, which is a feature you might miss a lot when getting an intense cardio session in.

Technology Benefits and Conveniences

Since it’s a little dated, you’re not going to find the exact same type of technical capabilities that you’d get today, but what’s offered here isn’t bad. This elliptical has a 5-inch backlit display where you can quickly glance at essential stats, such as calories burned, pulse, distance, resistance, and more.

You’ll also find iFIT on the console, but you’ll need to connect your smartphone or tablet to the machine via Bluetooth to enjoy it. If you decide to set that up, you’ll be able to access Google Maps so that you can train practically anywhere around the world. It’s also cool that the incline will adjust to whatever terrain you’re on during the program so you can zero in on your workout. There are also some workouts provided by the personal trainer Jillian Michaels that’ll help you stay motivated.

Other techy features and conveniences you’ll find on here are:

  • Tablet holder
  • Water bottle holder
  • Dual grip sensors built into handlebars (heart rate monitor)
  • MP3-compatible built-in sound system
  • OneTouch controls

Final Verdict of Our NordicTrack E 7.0 Elliptical Review

So, would this elliptical be worth purchasing if you saw it at a garage sale? Honestly, if it looked to be in good condition, I’d say yes. The multiple resistance levels, incline levels, and stride length alone are reasons to consider this machine. Plus, anytime you can increase or decrease the intensity of your workout with the touch of a button is a win in my book, too.

Overall, this elliptical stands out in terms of quality, comfort, and technical capabilities, so it’s worth considering. On top of that, you’d more than likely find it at a deep discount, and who’s going to complain about saving money? Especially if you’re able to save without compromising quality!
