There is some evidence that curcuminoids—the active compound in turmeric—possess a variety of health benefits including joint support, immune support, preventing chronic illnesses, and improving blood sugar range and control in those with type 2 diabetes1. As a registered dietitian, I personally had the pleasure of taste testing some of the best turmeric gummies on the market today, so you don’t have to. Let me say, I wasn’t complaining about these daily doses of enjoyable chews.

We’ll dive into the science behind these purported health benefits and more. Just know that curcumin supplements, like all other dietary supplements, are not regulated by the Food And Drug Administration. So, this is your friendly reminder to check in with a healthcare provider if you have any concerns about taking turmeric, even if it’s in a fun, gummy form.

Qunol Turmeric and Ginger Gummies are a convenient and tasty way to add turmeric to your daily routine. These are vegan-friendly, though the lack of third-party testing may be a drawback for some users.

At less than $0.60 per serving (when you choose a one-time purchase from Amazon), Qunol gummies pack a lot of value into the formulation as well as the overall experience of supplementation. That’s why it was easy for us to crown it the best turmeric gummy from the roster of brands we tried.

According to Qunol, these chewable gummies possess a water dispersion technology which results in an ultra-high-absorption product. Though I can’t prove or disprove this fact, I can certainly speak on my own experience from taking these tangerine gummies daily.

First off, I have to give a 5 out of 5 for both taste and texture. I thoroughly enjoyed these gummies because they were true to the advertised tangerine taste. That said, it’s very obvious there’s added sugar within the makeup—you can literally see the granules coated on the surface of the gummies. As far as the texture, I’d call it enjoyably addictive reminiscent of softer Sour Patch Kids.

RELATED: Best Vitamin Brands

As for the formulation, I score this profile at 4.5 out of 5. There are 500 milligrams of turmeric extract and 50 milligrams of ginger root per serving. However, I have to deduct points for the (very obvious) 4 grams of added sugar. That said, it’s still not bad compared to other offerings we’ve had in trials.

Qunol gummies as best turmeric gummies

Finally, I have to warn about the customer service—specifically, the return policy—which is a bit misleading. According to Qunol, you can order with confidence and make a purchase directly from Qunol.com without risk.

However, the brand’s website makes it clear you can only return products for a refund within 30 days of receipt if it’s unopened and unused. In other words, even if you try it and want to return it within 30 days, you will not be able to do so. With all of that considered, I had to give these gummies a 3-out-of-5 rating for the category. Either way, if you don’t mind a bit of added sugar, I’d say this is a solid brand that I continue to use to this day.

If you want a product that skips the 4 milligrams of added sugar, we recommend trying Bulletproof’s Turmeric Gummies.

Nutricost Turmeric Gummies offer solid value with a plant-based formula and a price tag that won’t hit your wallet hard. While it does contain added sugar, it’s still a reliable budget-friendly pick for daily turmeric support.

Nutricost is known in the supplement space for providing consistent, affordable products across multiple categories with added bulk options for better costs per serving. Case in point, the brand’s turmeric gummies come with a two-month supply for only $0.50 per serving. This is why it’s our pick for the best budget gummies on this list—and I can’t wait to tell you about my experience taste testing these little guys.

I’m not being dramatic when I say I’m utterly obsessed with the taste and texture of these chewables. In my first tasting, I had to glance and see I wasn’t eating a Lemon Starburst—the flavor is that enjoyable. I also like the profile of the lemon-shaped gummies that make supplementation a fun, enjoyable experience each day. Seriously, I had to stop myself from munching on more than the recommended daily serving.

Nutricost Turmeric Gummies as best turmeric gummies

Naturally, then, I awarded a 5-out-of-5 rating for both taste and texture. I also gave a 4 out of 5 for side effects, since I didn’t experience any unwanted sensations, but some customer reviews report GI discomfort while taking them.

Now, for the bad news … the formulation. I had to give this a 1 out of 5 for the category, as there’s only 100 milligrams of turmeric per serving—paltry when compared to the other brands on this list. Also, it seems like Nutricost included the minimum possible amount of ginger and black pepper extract at only 200 micrograms. There are also 4 grams of added sugar from three different sources, including glucose syrup.

In any case, if you’re on a budget or don’t need an extra strength turmeric supplement, this would be a good pick to go with.

Bulletproof Turmeric Gummies are a great sugar-free option for those avoiding sweeteners like cane sugar. With 300 mg of turmeric and added ginger and MCT oil, they deliver a flavorful and functional daily supplement—just know the bold taste might not be for everyone.

If you’ve ever been in a keto or paleo conversation, odds are you’ve heard the name Bulletproof in some capacity. Known for the brand’s weight loss coffee, Bulletproof now offers low-carb-friendly supplements of various types. Consequently, Bulletproof’s turmeric gummies are completely sugar-free due to the use of sugar alcohols, monk fruit, and stevia to give them some sweetness.

For price, I rate these at 3 out of 5 as each serving is about $0.83. A bit pricey by market standards, but if you forgo the one-time purchase for a subscription through Bulletproof’s website, you can lock in 20% off at checkout to save some cash.

Bulletproof Turmeric Gummies as best turmeric gummies

So, let’s talk about the flavor of these things. When I tried it, I didn’t think it was that bad, but after taking them regularly, they started to get less and less appealing. The turmeric flavor is definitely more prominent than any peach or ginger flavor they tried to imbibe into the profile. In fact, I don’t think I tasted any peaches at all. So, I rate the flavor at 3.5 out of 5.

As far as texture, these Bulletproof gummies score a 3 out of 5. They’re firm and not exactly like a gummy. It’s chewable, for sure, but crumbles rather than squishes. Again, nothing unappealing, but it wasn’t expected, either. All things considered, if you prefer gummies without added sugar—or if you’re generally trying to keep your carbs low—I’d recommend this brand.

Garden of Life Turmeric Gummies are packed with organic ingredients and enhanced with black pepper for absorption. While the turmeric dose is modest, the clean-label formula and antioxidant blend make it a strong pick for health-conscious users.

Organic supplement junkies are no stranger to the brand Garden of Life. The brand’s organic turmeric ginger gummies are Certified USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, NSF-Certified Gluten Free, Vegan, and Kosher, so they are sure to check plenty of boxes for plenty of folks. They’re also made with real fruit, meaning there are no sweeteners to give them their apple flavor. The formula also includes black pepper, which may help improve absorption, though more conclusive research is needed.

Speaking of flavor, I gave the taste of these a score of 5 out of 5. I really like the flavor they deliver. You get zero hints of turmeric, but, instead, a very pleasant and robust apple sensation. I started to look forward to seeing them on my bathroom counter each morning—a sort of welcomed treat before getting the day started.

Now, as far as the texture, I knocked down the score a tiny bit because they are tougher than other gummies I’ve tried. Overall, though, I felt fortunate at the large serving size, so I still gave a 4.5 out of 5 for texture. For formulation, though? Another story, completely.

Garden of Life Turmeric Gummies as best turmeric gummies

It’s described as containing a “turmeric blend” which goes on to list fermented turmeric root, turmeric root extract, and organic black pepper fruit. All of these add up to about 245 milligrams of “turmeric,“ but the proprietary blend makes it impossible to know how much of each ingredient is included.

The formulation also includes 7 grams of added sugar from organic fruit rather than refined sugar. However, the amount seems excessive considering the small amount of turmeric each serving provides. For these reasons, I rate these gummies at 1 out of 5 for formulation.

Don’t want any added sugar in your gummy supplements? Opt for Bulletproof’s Turmeric Gummies, which have zero sugar content.

Nature’s Truth Turmeric Curcumin Gummies deliver one of the best-tasting options on the market with a sweet peach flavor and soft texture. Though they lack black pepper for absorption, they’re a solid pick if flavor and chewability are your top priorities.

No artificial colors or sweeteners, here! Nature’s Truth lives up to its name with the brand’s turmeric curcumin gummies available in a Peach flavor. They also contain pectin, rather than gelatin, to make them a chewable gummy that’s free of animal-based products.

This is probably one of the best-tasting gummies I’ve ever had in supplement form; turmeric or otherwise. As such, I gave the taste a solid 5 out of 5—the flavor is exactly like your favorite peach candy, all with a pleasant texture that’s not overly chewy.

These gummies also don’t showcase a sugary exterior like other chewables we’ve seen in testing. Be warned, though, that this doesn’t mean they are devoid of sugar, altogether. Each gummy is sweetened with both sugar and glucose syrup, adding up to 6 grams of added sugar. So, I scored the formulation at 3.5 out of 5.

Nature’s Truth Turmeric Curcumin Gummies deliver one of the best-tasting options on the market with a sweet peach flavor and soft texture. Though they lack black pepper for absorption, they’re a solid pick if flavor and chewability are your top priorities.

Nordic Naturals uses pectin, a soluble fruit fiber, to give these turmeric gummies their texture, making them an appealing option for plant-based athletes. They also use 3 grams of xylitol as a sweetener, resulting in a totally sugar-free product. As far as the formulation is concerned, though, we feel the makeup could be improved upon.

There are only 200 milligrams of curcumin extract per serving  and no listed dosages of synergistic ingredients such as ginger, magnesium, or bioperine. Despite these shortcomings, the product is non-GMO and does not contain artificial colors or flavors. So, I gave it a 2-out-of-5 rating for formulation.

Nordic Naturals Turmeric Gummies as best turmeric gummies

Now, boys and girls, we need to talk about this taste. Most of the negative Amazon reviews cite the taste and texture as their main complaint, and I rated it at 2 out of 5, myself. The experience is certainly a ride—I initially enjoyed the mango flavor once the chewables hit my tongue. However, that quickly devolves into an extremely artificial flavor that I can only blame on the sugar alcohols and other additives. This unpleasant sensation is not helped by the texture, either, which is mushy and pretty weird, in my opinion. However, it’s better than it tastes, so I score it at 4 out of 5 for texture.

Mary Ruth’s Turmeric Gummies are a gentle, plant-based way to support joint health, combining turmeric and ginger in a tasty format. While the turmeric dosage is moderate and it lacks black pepper, it’s a clean-label option ideal for daily use.

Mary Ruth’s organic turmeric gummies are non-GMO, contain pectin, and are made in a GMP-compliant facility. Although more research is needed, curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, may help reduce joint inflammation or discomfort. These gummies are 95% curcuminoids, so they may be an option for those who want some extra joint support. That said, definitely consult your doctor before taking any joint-specific supplements to find what’s safest for your body.

They are also certified by the Clean Label Project, meaning they are third-party tested for safety to ensure the formulation is free of harmful toxins or contaminants. For this reason, we gave a 3-out-of-5 rating for third-party testing—a lower-than-perfect score simply because they are not third-party tested for sport.

So, how do they taste? Well, I gave it a 3.5-out-of-5 rating in that category. You get a bit of the Peach Mango Lemon flavor they are going for, but it definitely doesn’t taste as fresh or pleasant as other gummies. It’s difficult to describe, but they have a slightly stale flavor. I still enjoyed taking them, but the taste is not particularly aligned with the advertised notes.

I rated the texture slightly higher at 4 out of 5, as well. The texture is a bit chewy—it definitely doesn’t dissolve like some other gummies. That said, I enjoyed the bite and don’t think the extra chomps took away from the overall experience.

How We Picked and Tested the Best Turmeric Gummies

As you can see, there are a surprising number of brands to choose from for such a niche category of supplements like turmeric curcumin gummies. Luckily, we had a set list of criteria—along with our supplement testing methodology— to help us narrow down our picks:

Taste and Texture

Unlike pills and softgels that you barely have to taste, or powders you can hide in smoothies and other drinks, gummies are a direct consumable meaning you’ll taste each note present across the makeup. Thus, we wanted to recommend turmeric gummies that had an enjoyable flavor, or, at least, a taste and texture that’s good enough to be taken on a regular basis.

Added Sugars

Now, the problem with gummy supplements is that the sugar content can be tricky. Using too many artificial sweeteners can result in an unappealing aftertaste, but too many sugar alcohols can cause negative side effects in the gut.

Garden of Life Turmeric as best turmeric gummies

So, many brands default to just good, old-fashioned added sugars. However, this is a problem with supplements like turmeric that are meant to be taken for their anti-inflammatory properties. Seeing as refined sugar has an inflammatory effect, having too much added sugar can result in a product that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. So, we tried to limit our picks to brands that kept this ingredient to a minimum.

RELATED: Benefits of Turmeric

Ingredients

Having other anti-inflammatory ingredients that can work with turmeric root extract, such as ginger root, can make for a more high-quality product. So, we made note of brands that fell under this category. Curcuma longa has also been known to not digest well, so gummies that contain black pepper extract to help improve bioavailability also received some extra points during trials.

Benefits of Turmeric Gummies

Several clinical trials have demonstrated the powerful antioxidant properties of turmeric, which make it an effective antagonist against free radicals that can cause chronic medical conditions. In order to maximize curcumin’s and turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties, let’s examine the specifics of the health benefits they can provide.

May Have Anti-Cancer Properties

It is important to emphasize that no food, spice, or supplement can substitute for the traditional treatment of cancer and other malignant conditions. Despite this, many people point out turmeric’s novel ability to target pathways that influence cancer cell growth. However, there are mostly animal studies that have exhibited these anti-cancer properties.

In spite of that, one review of turmeric supplements published in 20242 points out that turmeric supplements can be a valuable addition to traditional cancer treatment, especially when taken in high doses. That said, authors note the supplements are limited in their applications, as they don’t have the high absorption rate needed to be significantly effective at a clinical level. Basically, if we are going to definitively grasp the mechanism by which turmeric affects cancer cells, more research needs to be done.

Can Promote Joint Health & Mobility

Some promising research has shown that turmeric has a number of anti-inflammatory properties uniquely efficacious at blunting the inflammatory response in your joints. Due to this research, turmeric is a popular supplement for those who suffer from chronic conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as those suffering from joint pain due to intense physical activity or sports injuries.

RELATED: Best Joint Supplement

Researchers have found that curcumin supplements can provide joint support similarly to drugs like ibuprofen3, serving as a potentially safer, more natural alternative. According to one review, subjects who took turmeric for their osteoarthritis reported fewer side effects4 like stomach pain when compared with NSAIDs.

May Help Prevent Some Chronic Illnesses

An individual’s risk of developing chronic diseases is significantly increased when he or she follows a lifestyle that is characterized by chronic inflammation, such as a poor diet, little exercise, smoking, and/or excessive alcohol consumption. To avoid developing a medical condition as a result of these factors, consuming antioxidants in your diet is critical.

Buletproof turmeric gummies as best turmeric gummies

Taking turmeric supplements is by no means a replacement for eating antioxidant-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats, but studies have shown that they can aid in fighting the inflammatory response induced by oxidative stress.

Curcumin has been shown to reduce cytokines in the blood of individuals already at risk of chronic illness in several randomized controlled trials5. During times of inflammation, the immune system releases compounds called cytokines. An excessive amount of cytokines is produced when this oxidative stress persists, causing organ damage which leads to chronic conditions like diabetes.

RELATED: How To Detox Your Body Safely

Curcuminoids increase anti-inflammatory effects even more when combined with piperine, a black pepper extract, according to another study6. Overall, turmeric supplements may contribute to long-term health and wellness by being an accessory to an anti-inflammatory lifestyle.

May Help Boost Athletic Performance

The research community has recently begun to conduct animal studies and human health studies to determine whether turmeric supplements could be helpful in combating exercise-induced oxidative stress and inflammation.

One study was conducted with 28 adolescent athletes7 who took either curcumin supplements or placebos during an intensive three-month training program. As a result of taking the curcuminoids, the curcumin group had significantly improved muscle recovery, specifically in terms of reduced fatigue and muscle soreness, compared to the placebo group.

Some of the subjects gained more muscle mass, which could be due to the fact that that persistent inflammation in the body leads to higher rates of lean mass catabolism8. Despite these findings, further research is still needed before turmeric can truly be referred to as a recovery booster.

Potential Side Effects

Supplementation with turmeric or curcumin on a daily basis doesn’t seem to cause any harmful side effects, especially when taken short-term (i.e. two to three months). You may, however, experience liver damage if you consume very high doses.

Taking turmeric supplements can also be dangerous or cause certain interactions in some cases, especially if you have certain medical conditions. When taking prescription medications, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional before starting a new dietary supplement like turmeric.

Turmeric can interact negatively with certain heart disease medications, such as anticoagulants. In addition to lowering blood sugar, curcumin can also affect diabetes medications, so those who take these prescriptions should monitor their blood sugar closely when they take curcumin supplements. Remember: Before starting a new dietary supplement, talk to your doctor first!

How Much Turmeric Should I Take Per Day?

Turmeric is a spice, not a nutrient. This should be understood by those looking to experiment with ayurvedic medicine and use both curcumin and herbal supplements. Thus, there is no recommended daily value, and dosage ranges are determined through clinical trials.

You should also choose a turmeric supplement that is well tolerated and third-party tested when choosing a brand. So, then, what is the recommended dosage? There are a number of solid studies that investigate the benefits of turmeric, most of them using dosages between 1 and 3 grams.

Over 100 subjects with osteoarthritis were studied in one large study, and it appeared that 2 grams9 were optimal for reducing joint pain and increasing mobility. It’s vital to note, however, that this dose is for curcumin and turmeric extracts. If you try to get this amount from just turmeric powder, you’d need to consume an uncomfortably large quantity.

Lastly, researchers have found that curcumin not only has a much better absorption rate, but is also more effective10 in most cases when taken with bioperine. This is an active compound found in black pepper that promotes high absorption, making it a popular ingredient in many modern dietary supplements.

Buying Guide: What to Look for in the Best Turmeric Gummies

In the process of looking for a new turmeric gummy supplement? There are a number of aspects that need to be taken into account before making a purchase. Here are a few:

Dose of Turmeric

Studies done on the health benefits of turmeric show that at least 1 gram of turmeric gives the wellness advantages that many seek from a curcumin supplement. Though it’s not entirely clear what the efficacious dose is for specific benefits, getting the maximum dose in amounts that are safe is probably ideal.

So, make sure to select a gummy that has the potency for the health benefits you seek and consult a healthcare professional if you need a specific amount of curcuminoids.

Price

Taking gummies daily, just like any other supplement, can get pricey fast if you have a particular set in your routine. So, you want to select products that have a good balance of dosage (amount of curcuma longa) and affordability. In other words, don’t overpay for an underdosed product with a weak formulation, if you can avoid it.

Serving Size

Now, for the fun part. Although it is likely a matter of personal preference, I have noticed that in the months that I have been taking turmeric curcumin gummies, the serving size became an increasingly important factor for me.

If you really enjoy a brand, having just one or two gummies may not cut it for you. On the flip side of that, if a brand has a bit more added sugar than you like, having a smaller serving size may be more of a positive. Weigh what your taste preference is as well as what you value in your formulation, and serving size can be a characteristic to take into consideration.
