The backlit LCD monitor tracks time, watts, calories, heart rate, level, floor/minute, segment time, floors climbed, and workout profile. Compatible with polar heart rate monitors, users can also opt to measure their heart rate using the pulse grips located on the handrails.
Other notable features include an automatic safety stop sensor, 275-pound weight capacity, and a powder-coated steel frame. This step machine falls on the expensive side and, although it is compact compared to those found in health clubs, it still takes up a good amount of floor real estate. There are very mixed reviews for the StairMaster SM3 Step Mill. Some users rave over its ease-of-use, simple, albeit time-consuming, assembly, and performance. Others, on the other hand, report it to be noisy and to break down just after a few uses.
