The Speedcross 6 is the newest version of Salomon’s mixed terrain/muddy and soft trail running shoe. Salomon shares that this version is lighter and provides even better grip and connection to the ground than the previous version. This shoe features neutral support, high foot protection, and regular cushioning.
The Speedcross 6 has an updated outsole which Salomon claims helps the shoe shed mud quicker and provides better grip in wet conditions. The updated upper features Ripstop fabric that is reinforced to resist tearing. The Speedcross uses Sensifit construction to create a solid foothold. The EnergyCell+ midsole is the same as previous iterations and provides classic Speedcross comfort and durability according to Salomon. The shoe also features Salomon’s signature Quicklace system that allows you to tighten the shoelaces with one pull.
The Speedcross 6 has generally positive reviews—people liked the wide toe box and that there was no break-in period. Customers noted that the shoe seemed wider than previous iterations and their foot didn’t feel as secure in the shoe. Multiple customers complained about the outsole wearing out quickly. There were also complaints about the Quicklace system loosening over time.
