HLTH Code Complete Meal Review

Say it with me, friends: Food. Is. Fuel. But between work, workouts, and everything in between, sitting down for a balanced meal isn’t always realistic. That’s where meal replacement shakes come in, because not even the best protein shakes can carry the full nutritional load of a real meal (nor should they).

As Dr. Christopher Mohr, PhD, RD, explains, “Protein is very filling, and with a focus solely on protein, it could displace other nutrient-dense compounds like quality carbohydrates and fats. This can ultimately lead to a risk of not getting enough of other nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and minerals, thus affecting your overall health.”

Think of it this way: you probably wouldn’t call a plain chicken breast lunch and walk away satisfied. A complete meal needs more, and, therefore, your optimal meal replacement shake should contain more. So, is HLTH Code Complete Meal up to the task? We put this keto-friendly meal replacement powder through the wringer to find out.

Medical disclaimer: This article is intended for educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended as a substitute for medical advice. For health advice, contact a licensed healthcare provider. GGR also recommends choosing a product that has been third-party tested for quality.

100+ Protein Tests Replace Generic Reviews

At GGR, we believe supplements should make life easier, whether that means fueling your workout performance or filling nutritional gaps throughout your nutrition routine. But we also recognize that not all products are created equal. That’s why our expert testers—including certified personal trainers, registered dietitians, and strength coaches—have tested over 100 protein powders and meal replacement shakes, giving us a strong benchmark for what sets the best apart from the rest.

Each meal replacement, HLTH Code Complete Meal included, is evaluated using our GGR supplement testing methodology, which allows us to consistently assess key factors like:

  • Formulation: We review protein, carb, and fat balances along with ingredient quality and micronutrient content. Top scores go to formulas with over 30 grams of protein, minimal presence of unnecessary additives, and at least 20 essential vitamins and minerals in meaningful, researched-backed amounts.
  • Calories Per Serving: A true meal replacement should offer enough calories to keep you satisfied, ideally between 400 and 500 per serving. Shakes under 300 to 400 calories may fall short, while those with over 800 calories can start to resemble a mass gainer makeup.
  • Taste: Taste is subjective, so we consider both tester feedback and customer reviews to evaluate flavor. We note standouts as well as any polarizing or poorly-rated flavors.
  • Solubility: A meal shake should be smooth and easy to drink—not gritty, clumpy, or prone to separation. We test how well each product mixes with water or milk and how it holds up over time.
  • Side Effects: No one wants to experience digestive discomfort, an unpleasant aftertaste, or other unwanted effects as a result of drinking a shake. We evaluate the product based on tester feedback and consumer reviews to assess its overall tolerability.
  • Transparency & Third-Party Testing: We prioritize products that undergo third-party testing conducted through reputable organizations such as NSF, Informed Sport, or BSCG. Transparency around sourcing, ingredients, and certifications are also factors we consider when scoring this category.
  • Value: We evaluate cost per serving based on industry norms. Products under $1.50 earn top marks, while more expensive options must deliver standout formulations or added benefits.

HLTH Code Complete Meal contains 27 grams of protein per serving, a 1:1 ratio of healthy fats to protein, and up to 50% daily value of 25 vitamins and minerals. It is also available in a vegan plant-based version if you’d prefer. While we liked the taste, mixability was more of an issue.

What our tester says:

“These aren’t strong in your face with flavor, but I actually think that’s a good thing. If you’re going to be drinking these frequently, that’s better in my opinion.”

A Quick Look at HLTH Code Complete Meal

HLTH Code was co-founded by Dr. Ben Bikman, a metabolic scientist and author of Why We Get Sick. Drawing on his research into how the body processes nutrients, Dr. Bikman helped develop a formula rooted in the notion that human health and metabolism thrive when we prioritize protein and healthy fats in our diets while limiting excess carbohydrates.

The result? HLTH Code Complete Meal—a low-carb, keto-friendly shake that combines protein, healthy fats, and supportive extras like collagen, probiotics, and digestive enzymes formulated to be more convenient and cost-effective than most meals you could make or buy.

Before You Buy

  • HLTH Code Complete Meal is a whey-based formula with egg whites and collagen, but a plant-based version is available for athletes looking to avoid animal products.
  • Although HLTH Code states the product is gluten-free, it does not carry Certified Gluten-Free labeling, which may be a concern for those who require a strict gluten-free diet.

Is HLTH Code Complete Meal Worth It?

HLTH Code Complete Meal Replacement offers a premium mix of protein, healthy fats, and added ingredients like collagen and probiotics that go beyond the basic marks of other popular powders. But at $4.00 per serving, it may or may not be worth the investment depending on your goals and budget.

Great for:

  • Those following a low-carb or keto diet
  • Busy individuals looking for a convenient shake designed to replace a full meal
  • People seeking added gut and joint support thanks to included collagen, digestive enzymes, probiotics, and apple cider vinegar

Not recommended for:

  • Anyone avoiding animal-based products, including individuals following a vegan or dairy-free diet
  • Those seeking a post-workout protein shake rather than a full meal replacement
  • Highly active individuals or anyone looking for a more balanced macro profile—the keto-friendly formulation is naturally lower in carbohydrates

Experience Using HLTH Code Complete Meal

Kate Meier, NASM-CPT, USAW-L1, CF-L1, served as our expert tester for this HLTH Code review, sampling the Chocolate Macadamia flavor over multiple weeks. While the taste didn’t blow her away, she highlighted the impressive texture when blended, calling it “a thick queen!”

Kate’s experience aligns with HLTH Code’s 4.3-out-of-5-star Amazon rating according to nearly 400 customer responses. Here’s a closer look at the details we uncovered during our trials.

Price Per Serving

At $59.95 for a 15-serving bag, HLTH Code Complete Meal breaks down to about $4.00 per serving, which is on the higher end of the price spectrum for meal replacements. Signing up for autoship orders can drop the cost to $49.95 ($3.33 per serving), making it more affordable for repeat buyers.

Still, even with the subscription discount, this isn’t the most budget-friendly option amongst the best meal replacement shakes, earning a 2 out of 5 in this category.

Formulation

HLTH Code Complete Meal delivers a strong, comprehensive makeup in each scoop, earning a 4-out-of-5 rating for its formulation as well as 3.5 out of 5 for its calorie content. Here’s a closer look at what’s featured in one serving of the keto-friendly powder:

  • 400 calories, providing enough fuel to replace a full meal for most, but may not be sufficient for those with higher calorie needs.
  • 27 grams of protein sourced from a blend of whey protein, egg whites, and hydrolyzed grass-fed collagen—an uncommon but welcomed addition that may support skin, joints, and connective tissue.
  • 27 grams of fat come from a “Healthy Fats” blend featuring powders derived from coconut oil, olive oil, medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), and flaxseed, along with cocoa butter and grass-fed ghee. However, Bob Iafelice, MS, RDN, points out, “While the product contains plenty of heart-healthy unsaturated fats, there are still 17 grams of saturated fat.” He cautions that regularly consuming excess saturated fat has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and stroke—something to keep in mind if you’re monitoring your heart health.
  • 13 grams of carbs and 9 grams of fiber, amounting to 4 grams of net carbs. Iafelice notes the included fiber is beneficial for regulating bowel movements, controlling blood sugar, and reducing cholesterol levels.
  • Up to 50% daily value of 25 essential vitamins and minerals, helping fill micronutrient gaps that may arise when substituting whole meals.
  • Digestive enzymes, apple cider vinegar, and Lactobacillus acidophilus (a probiotic) to support digestion and improve your gut health. Research1 also suggests that Lactobacillus acidophilus may play key roles in improving cardiovascular health, managing lactose intolerance, supporting immune function, reducing the risk of certain cancers, and addressing gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Stevia and monk fruit for natural sweetness with no added sugars, artificial sweeteners, GMOs, or gluten.

TL;DR: HLTH Code offers a keto-friendly, nutrient-dense shake with a high-quality protein blend, gut-friendly extras, and a strong micronutrient profile. It falls just short of a perfect score due to its high saturated fat content and slightly lower protein content, landing just under the 30-gram threshold seen in other top-tier options.

Taste and Solubility

Kate gave the Chocolate Macadamia flavor a 4-out-of-5 rating for taste, noting, “The overall experience is OK—not a very strong flavor, and I can’t taste any macadamia in it.” Still, she adds, “I could definitely drink an entire shake of it,” suggesting that while the flavor is subtle, it’s still easy enough to enjoy.

Solubility was a mixed experience during trials and was completely dependent on our mixing method of choice. While the packaging suggests mixing two scoops with 8 ounces of cold water in your best shaker bottle, Kate cautioned, “I’d advise against that unless you’re content with clumps of powder in your smoothie.” She gave the shaker cup mixability a low score of 1 out of 5, calling it “chunky as all get-out.”

In a handheld or countertop blender, though, the consistency is practically perfect. “If you put it in a blender, it’s very smooth,” Kate notes. “I was shocked at how thick the shake was with just water. I was expecting a thinner consistency, but it was incredibly smooth—thick like a milkshake (yet you can still sip it through a straw).”

Her tip? “Don’t put it in a shaker cup! Put it in a blender! It’s a thick queen!” Accordingly, we’ll heed Kate’s advice and give Complete Meal a conservative 3-out-of-5 rating for solubility.

Side Effects

Kate rated HLTH Code Complete Meal’s side effects at a perfect 5 out of 5, stating she felt fine post-consumption with no unwanted symptoms like bloating or GI distress. Amazon reviewers share similar positive feedback, often highlighting lasting energy. One user noted it’s “uniquely satisfying, keeping me full and energized for hours.”

Third-Party Testing

Because dietary supplements aren’t regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), we always prioritize products that undergo third-party testing to verify purity, safety, and label accuracy.

HLTH Code Complete Meal supplement facts

HLTH Code states its products are “proudly made in the USA in a cGMP-certified facility that is registered with the FDA,” which suggests adherence to strong manufacturing practices. However, neither Kate nor I could find any third-party certifications from reputable organizations such as NSF, Informed Sport, or USP, resulting in a 2-out-of-5 rating in this category.

Ka’Chava is a plant-based meal replacement shake packed with vitamins, minerals, adaptogens, antioxidants, and super greens. Although there are five delicious flavors to choose from, it’s worth noting that the price per serving is over $4.

What our tester says:

“I don’t think the Chai flavor tastes exactly like Chai, but it’s pleasant nonetheless, and I appreciate that they offer more unique flavor options.”

HLTH Code and Ka’Chava are both designed to replace full meals with nutrient-dense formulas, and each offers a 30-day risk-free return policy. Depending on your dietary goals, preferences, and budget, however, one might be a better fit than the other. Here’s how they compare:

  • Calories and macronutrients: HLTH Code delivers 400 calories per serving, making it the more substantial option if you’re looking for a true meal replacement. Ka’Chava is lighter at 240 calories, better suited for a snack or lower-calorie meal. HLTH Code contains significantly more fat (27 grams to 7 grams) and has slightly more protein (27 grams to 25 grams), whereas Ka’Chava contains more carbs (24 grams to 13 grams).
  • Protein source: Ka’Chava contains only plant-based proteins, ideal for vegans or anyone avoiding animal products. HLTH Code uses a blend of whey, egg white, and hydrolyzed collagen for a diverse amino acid profile and added benefits for skin and joint health.
  • Functional extras: Ka’Chava packs in over 85 ingredients including adaptogens, antioxidants, prebiotics, probiotics, and supergreens. HLTH Code takes a simpler, more targeted approach with gut-friendly additions like probiotics, digestive enzymes, and a healthy fats blend.
  • Flavor variety: Ka’Chava wins on variety, offering five flavors as well as a sample pack. HLTH Code currently comes in just two taste options.
  • Customer programs: Both brands offer a subscription service, but Ka’Chava also includes a rewards program for added savings and perks.
  • Price and value: HLTH Code costs $4.00 per serving (or $3.33 with a subscription), while Ka’Chava costs $4.66. Still, Ka’Chava’s superfood blend and larger flavor roster may justify the extra cost for some.

Customer Experience

HLTH Code earns a solid 4 out of 5 for customer experience. The generous risk-free return policy is a standout feature, but limitations surrounding shipping speed, availability, and contact options prevent it from earning a perfect score. Here’s a closer look:

The company offers a 30-day full-refund policy for products purchased through its website, the primary place to order. To initiate a return, customers must email returns@getHLTH.com. Just note that restocking fees may apply.

Customer service is accessible via email or an online form, with response times typically ranging from 24 to 48 hours. However, the absence of phone support may be a drawback for those who prefer immediate, real-time assistance.

Shipping is currently limited to the United States with most orders processed within 48 hours and delivered within three to seven business days. Expedited shipping isn’t available at checkout, and deliveries to P.O. boxes may take longer than those to standard addresses.

Ordering HLTH Code Complete Meal

Ordering HLTH Code shakes is simple through the brand’s website. Simply choose your flavor, select a one-time purchase or subscription, and complete your checkout with applicable shipping and billing information.

Although the site states that HLTH Code is only available through the brand’s retail website, I’ve also found it listed on Amazon. Keep in mind, though, that HLTH Code does not handle returns or exchanges for purchases made through third-party retailers.

Customer Reviews

HLTH Code Meal Replacement holds a solid 4.3 out of 5 stars on Amazon, based on nearly 400 reviews. Many customers describe the shake as delicious, satisfying, and supportive of their health goals—some even report improvements in weight management and blood sugar levels.

That said, some users wish there were more flavor options and note that the powder can be difficult to mix without a blender. Still, the overall sentiment leans positive, with more loyal repeat buyers than one-time users.

Final Verdict of Our HLTH Code Complete Meal Review

HLTH Code Complete Meal offers a nutrient-dense, keto-friendly option that combines high-quality proteins, healthy fats, and gut-supporting ingredients. Still, consider these key takeaways before using it to replace real food:

  • Contains 400 calories per serving, ideal as a full meal replacement for most, but possibly insufficient for those with higher energy needs.
  • Provides 27 grams of protein from a blend of whey, egg whites, and collagen—just shy of the 30-gram benchmark favored by some competitors, but still solid for a meal replacement shake.
  • Features a high fat content from healthy sources like MCTs, coconut oil, and olive oil, though it contains a notable amount of saturated fat, which may not suit everyone’s dietary preferences.
  • Includes added digestive enzymes, probiotics, and apple cider vinegar to support gut health, making it stand out from many standard meal replacements.
  • Best blended rather than shaken to avoid clumping, with a subtle Chocolate Macadamia flavor that’s easy to drink but not highly distinctive.
  • Lacks third-party certification, which may concern those prioritizing verified purity and label accuracy.
  • Priced higher than many competitors at roughly $4.00 per serving, though subscriptions can reduce costs for repeat buyers.
HLTH Code Complete Meal

HLTH Code Complete Meal contains 27 grams of protein per serving, a 1:1 ratio of healthy fats to protein, and up to 50% daily value of 25 vitamins and minerals. It is also available in a vegan plant-based version if you’d prefer. While we liked the taste, mixability was more of an issue.

HLTH Code Complete Meal: FAQs

Does HLTH Code Complete Meal help you lose weight?

While no shake causes weight loss on its own, HLTH Code Complete Meal can support weight management goals when used as part of a calorie-controlled diet. Its high protein, fiber, and healthy fat content may help promote satiety, curb cravings (especially for sweets), and reduce the likelihood of overeating—all while providing essential nutrients.

Are HLTH Code Complete Meal shakes good for you?

For many people, HLTH Code Complete Meal shakes can be a convenient, nutrient-dense meal replacement when whole foods aren’t an option. Each serving can provide 400 calories, 27 grams of protein, 27 grams of fat (from sources such as MCTs and olive oil), 25 essential vitamins and minerals, and added gut-friendly ingredients like probiotics and digestive enzymes. The shakes are also free of artificial ingredients and added sugars, but the high saturated fat content and lack of third-party testing may be drawbacks for some.

How much does HLTH Code Complete Meal cost?

A 15-serving bag of HLTH Code Complete Meal costs $59.95, which breaks down to about $4.00 per serving. You can save $10 per bag by subscribing to the brand’s repeat delivery service, though, bringing the cost down to roughly $3.33 per serving.
