Editor’s Note: The ProForm Power 995C has been discontinued. We suggest viewing the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 as the best alternative, or view our Best Treadmills list for more options.

The ProForm Power 995C treadmill hit the market a few years ago, but was taken off the brand’s website a short time later. However, as of this writing, you may still find it used on Amazon, and it could be a great option for people who need a quality treadmill under $1,000

In our ProForm Power 995C review, we will cover the pros, cons, the features, the footprint, and more so you have as much information as possible if you’re considering this treadmill (spoiler: you should).

We Know ProForm

Our team at Garage Gym Reviews knows ProForm pretty well. One search for “ProForm” on our website will show many reviews of their treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and rowers. We know what you should look for in a ProForm machine because we want to see for ourselves. We’re honest but fair when it comes to a treadmill review, and you can be assured that we’ve invested the energy and time into any ProForm machine as well as several other companies’ equipment options.

Looking for an Alternative to the ProForm Power 995C Treadmill?

The best treadmill we found to compare the ProForm Power 995C to was the NordicTrack Commercial 1750. They are both produced by the same parent company, they both have iFIT capability, and have both incline and decline capability.

The display and length of the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 are larger, but the comparisons when it comes to using the machines are similar.

A Quick Look at the ProForm Power 995C

The ProForm Power 995C is a bigger treadmill for a home gym, but its features may make it very worthwhile for the right person have. ProForm as a company is a very popular brand when it comes to cardio equipment in general, not just for treadmills. They make bikes, ellipticals, rowers, and even strength training accessories.

The closest ProForm treadmill that could be compared to the 995C may be the Carbon T14. The 995C is about $300 more as of this writing, but the machine can still be worth the investment whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned runner.

My Tips

  • The best way to use this treadmill is with an iFIT subscription. It isn’t required, though.
  • Commit space for folding from floor to ceiling. The treadmill can be folded, but it’s meant to be folded vertically instead of horizontally.
  • The Power 995C will come disassembled. Carry the parts to where you want to keep the treadmill before you assemble it.

Pros:

  • 30 preset workout programs
  • iFIT-compatible
  • Incline and decline positions
  • 0 to 12 MPH speed range
  • Wireless heart rate system included
  • Longer running space
  • iPod-compatible with speakers
  • 3.0 CHP motor

Cons:

  • iFIT is an extra cost
  • Larger footprint
  • Loud motor

Is the Power 995C Worth It?

The Power 995C is a treadmill that can benefit both seasoned runners and beginners. People who are into technology and tracking progress can take advantage of iFIT capabilities and broad speed range of up to 12 MPH.

However, you should be able to commit the necessary space for such a treadmill if you want one. People who have smaller workout spaces or are looking for a budget-friendly option may need to consider something else.

Great for:

  • Runners and serious workout enthusiasts
  • Beginners who need an easy-to-use machine
  • People who want interactive workout options

Not recommended for:

  • People working with a limited budget
  • Those with limited space for training
  • People who want a basic walking machine

Customer Reviews

The Power 995C had a combined rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars on Amazon. Customer reviews are mostly positive. One example is this customer who was more than pleased with the purchase.

“We had this treadmill since 2014 and it still runs in 2020. The only thing that just stops working is the elevation setting. We moved homes and cities since 2014 and assembled and disassembled it 3 times and had no issues with moving it around. I am a fan for sure, definitely got our money’s worth. Great for running in doors, we just use a tablet to have some entertainment on it. The speakers in the 995c were ok, still work, but we use wireless headphones anyways to keep noise down. The 995c is not too noisy, so we can use it in the basement without waking anyone upstairs. Great piece of equipment. We used it about 3 to 4 times a week. Most of the year for about 45 min each time.” – J.B.

However, there are people who weren’t as satisfied as well, such as the person that wrote this review about the lack of adjustment on the belt.

“This treadmill does not have a tension adjustment on the drive belt. After about a year, mine started slipping and the only remedy is to replace the belt, which requires removing the rear idler roller and then the front idler roller. Some of the other Proform treadmills do have a tension adjustment on the motor drive belt and state that it is natural for the belt to stretch some over time, needing the tension to be adjusted. Not having a way to adjust the tension on this treadmill is a poor design.” – TWells

Workout Experience on the Power 995C

There are several features on the ProForm Power 995C treadmill that are similar to other treadmills in the ProForm family of treadmills. These include the Proshox Cushioning, the Space Saver design, and even the iFIT compatible console. We found in testing the ProForm Pro 9000 that those features make running or walking on ProForm treadmills a great workout experience.

Footprint, Portability, Durability

The Power 995C is bigger than most home treadmills. It’s also heavier than others in the category. The good news is that it does fold and has Easy Lift Assist to make lifting and folding it easier. You only have to hit a button. It may take some time to roll it to another place, but once you find its home, you can keep it there.

The weight capacity of this machine is 350 pounds, which makes it a great choice for larger athletes or people that want to start a weight loss transformation. The frame of this machine is designed to withstand impact and heavier weight than most treadmills, so the construction of the machine will last for quite some time to come. The longer tread belt (60 inches) makes it a great running treadmill for taller users.

The Ergonomics

The Power 995C has longer hand rails on the side of the running area for beginners to hold or to help maintain balance if needed. Those handles are shaped for easier hand position.

There is also a place for a quick stop clip on the front panel should you need to stop the machine immediately. One end is connected to the front panel, while the other end can be connected to clothing. Simply pull the cord, and the machine will stop. Should you slip, the cord will pull as well.

You are less likely to slip on the tread belt, however, thanks to the commercial tread that is on it. This can help keep you running or walking, even if you sweat a lot on the machine while you’re training. We found in our testing that the ProShox cushioning will make running or walking on it easier for people who are dealing with joint pain or need to get used to running on a treadmill.

Technology Benefits and Conveniences

There is a Polar heart rate monitor included with the treadmill, but the machine will pick up other chest straps or monitor devices as well via Bluetooth.

On the basic LCD display, there is a ¼-mile track display to help show your distance throughout the workout. You can also determine progress by calories burned, time, and speed, which can be changed with QuickSpeed dials.

The workout apps were designed by a certified personal trainer, and they will add a lot of variety for people that need to change up the program often. Thanks to the iFIT subscription and app, you can simulate running or walking at different destinations with Google Maps, though you’ll have to use your own device to do so

.

The front panel has a Coolaire workout fan, speakers, and a backlit display with buttons that are easy to operate. It won’t take you long to get used to working this treadmill once you have it assembled.

Warranty

ProForm is so confident in this machine that they offer a lifetime warranty for the frame and motor. There is also a three-year warranty for parts and a one-year warranty for labor. All of those are pretty good for fitness equipment.

Final Verdict of Our ProForm Power 995C Treadmill Review

Fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and home gym owners who are looking to make a serious commitment to a treadmill may like the ProForm Power 995C treadmill. We’re not sure how much longer ProForm will produce or support it, but once you get this one, it should serve you for many runs and walks to come.
