At first glance, Bloom Nutrition Greens looks like most superfood powders you’ll find on a list of the best greens powders. However, there’s a huge thing going for it that gives a massive advantage: social media views, thanks to Bloom Greens reviews on TikTok and other platforms. With a fiber blend, digestive enzyme blend and prebiotic and probiotic blend, Bloom boasts it can be a cure to help with bloating and overall health.

Reviews also claim it provides skin, hair and nail benefits similar to collagen. After a closer look at the product and testing it ourselves, we have some opinions of our own. Let’s take a look.

A Quick Look at Bloom Greens

Bloom was founded in 2019 by a couple by the name of Mari and Greg. Mari changed her diet and lifestyle, leading to weight loss and wellness that allowed her to “bloom into her best self”—thus inspiring the name of the company. Today, Bloom offers a variety of wellness supplements from pre-workout to collagen supplements to multi-vitamin gummies.

With its “made for women, by women” slogan and approach, Bloom has found viral success on TikTok and other social media platforms. So if you’ve caught a glimpse of Bloom on your daily scrolls, you’ve likely already heard of Bloom Nutrition Greens & Superfoods. Our curiosity got the best of us, so we tried it ourselves.

Are Bloom Greens Worth It?

Given the splash this supplement has made on social media, this is the question everyone is asking. Some people, however, might find it more valuable than others. Priced around $1.33 per serving, it isn’t the most affordable greens powder on the market, but it’s not the most expensive, either.

Great for:

  • People who are brand new taking a green supplement
  • Those who need their veggies supplement to taste great
  • Those who prefer natural sweeteners like stevia

Not recommended for:

  • Those on a budget
  • People looking for a potent greens powder to supplement their diet with
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women

Our Experience Using Bloom Greens

When our testers got their hands on Bloom Greens, they were satisfied with its quality as a fun beverage, but not so satisfied with the disappointing dosage of active ingredients for how much the product costs.

GGR Senior Editor Nicole Davis had this to say about how Bloom Greens measured up to her expectations: “I tried Bloom Greens before I was pregnant, but stopped during pregnancy as my doctor advised that there’s not enough research on adaptogens during pregnancy to be considered safe. That said, this product is so hyped up on social media and honestly, I think it’s a bit disappointing.”

Bloom Greens Scooping

As a dietitian, I strongly concur with her comments regarding the product’s health claims versus its actual contents.

“It tastes great, but they market themselves as a magic pill for bloating, and anyone with any nutrition background knows that that’s some BS,” Nicole, a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Nutrition Coach, continues. “The ingredients seem to be high quality, but they’re under-dosed. Basically, I think it’s overpriced for what it provides, and what the company says it can provide, despite all of the great reviews online.”

Price Per Serving

Bloom Greens comes in a few sizes, including a 30-serving tub which, at the time of this writing, is about $39.99. That comes out to about $1.33 per serving, which is in the standard range for most greens supplements on the market. However, whether or not it’s worth it depends on your budget and how you feel about what we’ll call a “light” formulation of the powder.

Formulation

Super greens powder benefits come directly from its ingredients. When it comes to Bloom, the ingredient list is pretty lengthy. With more than 30+ ingredients, we won’t bore you with the full list. There are several key ingredients to consider:

Bloom Greens Powder
  • Spirulina
  • Chlorella
  • Prebiotics and probiotics including bifidobacterium bifidum, lactobacillus rhamnosus, lactobacillus acidophilus
  • Digestive enzymes
  • Rhodiola root powder
  • Ashwagandha root powder
  • Stevia leaf extract

What We Like

Spirulina is commonly found in greens supplements and is a blue-green algae that acts as a powerful antioxidant that works to fight inflammation in the body and support the immune system1.

Rhodiola is a compound that recent studies2 have suggested can help alleviate feelings of stress. Similar findings have been found with ashwagandha, which has specifically been shown to have potential to aid in relieving anxiety symptoms3, but more extensive research is needed.

What We Don’t Like

Now for the bad news. And whew, I’ll try to be gentle. First off, I don’t quite get the inclusion of maltodextrin not only in this product in general, but in the “digestive enzyme” blend. Research has shown us that maltodextrin is actually a stressor4 on the intestinal environment and can negatively impact our gut health. Thus, it seems a little counterproductive to include such an ingredient in the same supplement that has probiotics and prebiotics.

The biggest problem with Bloom Nutrition Greens is the significantly small dosage of the ingredients. It’s a red flag that there are 30+ ingredients, but only 1 tablespoon per serving. There’s only a set amount of health benefits you can pack into 1 tablespoon of a superfoods powder and, if you look at the amounts of each blend, it’s not super impressive.

For example, there are seven ingredients in the fruit and vegetable blend, but they total to only 500 milligrams of powder. For the price (and TikTok coverage) of Bloom Nutrition Greens, I’d expect amounts to be much more substantial.

Taste and Solubility

There are mixed reviews (no pun intended) on how successful you can expect to be with mixing the powder completely. Nicole, GGR senior editor, certified personal trainer and nutrition coach, had this to say after trying the powder:

“I’ve tried Mango, and it’s actually really tasty. It’s sweet, but still grassy, and the mango flavor covers the greens powder taste just enough. There is a slight smell of grass (or lettuce) when you bring the cup to your mouth to drink, though.”

How does it mix? Grab a blender.

Bloom Greens Solubility

“Solubility is not great,” Nicole says. “You definitely need a shaker; I tried mixing it with a spoon and there were lots of clumps and sediment at the bottom.”

Side Effects

It is possible to be exposed to heavy metals such as lead and other heavy metals from consuming greens powders. Even organically grown vegetables can contain these metals since they can be in the soil in which they are grown.

Bloom Greens Powder mixed in a glass

Taking these supplements during pregnancy or while breastfeeding is not recommended as there is the risk of contaminants that may be harmful to the fetus. Taking a greens supplement like Bloom Greens powder with prescription medications might cause an interaction, which could be dangerous, because most come with so many ingredients in one serving.

Looking for an alternative to Bloom?

Ghost Greens is another brand found on Amazon. You might recognize the name “Ghost” as being among the best pre-workout supplements (or at least, the pre-workout with the craziest flavors).

When compared to Ghost Greens, both Bloom and Ghost mix decently, contain digestive enzymes, a vegetable blend, inulin as a prebiotic as well as probiotics. Neither is third-party tested. However, Ghost Greens will run you $1.50 per serving, which is slightly more expensive than Bloom.

Final Verdict of Our Bloom Nutrition Greens Review

For all of its hype and moderate pricing, Bloom Greens doesn’t contain any essential nutrients or the typical super greens in very significant amounts. It is certainly a great option if you are looking for something that tastes great, is gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and plant-based. However, if you’re looking for a significant boost in energy levels or a powder that can significantly supplement your fruit and veggie intake, there are similarly priced supplements that are much more potent.

Even so, we think it’s a great-tasting product with a manageable serving size that could be a great fit for those who want to try a greens supplement without being turned off by the dreaded grass taste.
