These plates are the same as the competition plates from rogue except cooler looking in my opinion. The best time to buy them is during the matte black Friday promotion. Do not buy them as a set, because the price is increased to accommodate included shipping. This is why the standard rogue training plates in both black and color are more expensive "free shipping." Buying these as pairs on black Friday gets you the best bumper that rogue makes for a great deal! I bought these because they're good all-round plates. They're very accurate, I can OLY lift with them, they're quiet(er) than steel (I live in an apartment), and I don't totally shoot myself in the foot when I want to load up the bar for heavy DL/squat.
I love this rack. It is very practical for a small space. Unfortunately not compatible with slingers, and useless for LT-1 unless you get the tall variant. I purchased a pair 90" cross members from rogue to facilitate the use of the LT-1 and added an extra rear stabilizer. Being 6'1" the 70" back posts leave just one peg above for further squat positioning.
Just like the main info says, it is heavy and expensive. It has taken me a while to get used to using this bench for lifting due to the limited adjustability. It is not bad, but there are just much better options at this price point. If I had to do it all again Rep-5000.
I purchased mine as a blemished second. The quality is still superb. The defect was apparent: the dual center knurl markings were not uniform in size. I'm not educated to speak about the production process to know when the finish is applied, but what I can say is that my nickel finish not nearly as brilliant as my nickel shoulderrok. My guess is this bar sat around for a while, or did not get the same finish treatment as an up to spec bar. That all being said, without exception, this is my favorite bar I've ever used. Over ivankos and eleikos I've used.
I have a love/hate relationship with DL. I have chronic back pain from my time in the Marines and other injuries when I was in my early twenties. I would be able to get up to about 500lb on the platform when my back would give out and I'd have to recover and work my way back up to that same weight with conventional/sumo DL. Trap bar has been the only way I've been able to push past that limit. I wasn't willing to buy just any trap bar. was unimpressed by most of the offerings until this open-ended craze really hit. I love Kabuki products so I opted for this one. I have the updated HD variant. I cannot compare it to the original version, but this is a fantastic product. I love the variability of it! I have the standard handle width and all the handle diameter options. The versatility of this over a regular trap bar cannot be understated! Personally think this is objectively the best option due to the interchangeability of parts.
