The Black Diamond Sprinter 500 Headlamp is a versatile headlamp that can be used for any outdoor activity in low lighting. It is slim, lightweight, well-balanced, and the latest version provides 500 lumens on the brightest setting. This headlamp has a single front lens which Black Diamond promises will provide a smooth and even beam that eliminates drastic transitions.
This single light is reported to be very easy to use with an intuitive and conveniently placed power button to turn it on and off. Towards that end, their patented PowerTap technology allows for quick adjustments to the brightness with variable dimming. The Sprinter 500 can be charged in one of two ways. You can use the included rechargeable BD 1800 Lithium-ion battery, or use three AAA alkaline batteries instead. This headlamp also comes equipped with reflective logos and a rear red flasher intended to keep you visible from any angle. You will also find a six-setting three LED battery meter.
The headband itself is made from breathable material and comes with a removable top strap so each user can adjust it to their liking. This perforated and elastic headband is reportedly comfortable and keeps the light in place. There are a handful of reports that the light flickers and is not incredibly reliable, however the majority of consumers are very pleased with its functionality.
