Noom takes the stance that weight gain (or difficulty losing weight) is tied to your ingrained habits and underlying relationship with food. The goal of the program is to make you aware of your beliefs and habits, and how they affect your diet and overall lifestyle. Once you’ve done this work, the next step is a personalized plan that provides knowledge and support to help you make lasting changes.
Noom doesn’t provide a cookie-cutter nutrition plan. There are no “off-limit” foods—you’re given the tools and knowledge you need to make informed choices about what to eat and what to avoid. You can also work alongside a coach if you want, though the program can be self-guided.
Most of the work is done in an app. You can track your food, exercise, and weight at a cadence that works for you. The app also sends out daily lessons about your personal triggers and how to overcome them, and follow-up quizzes to test how well you’re retaining the information.
