What is Beta-Alanine?
Beta-Alanine is essentially a non-essential amino acid created within your body (produced in the liver). It has been shown to increase levels of carnosine in human skeletal muscle.
What does this mean? Carnosine is created/activated when your muscular pH levels drop. Beta-Alanine acts like a signal delving optimal amount of Carnosine to your muscles.
Increased uptake of Carnosine = Increased Endurance rates.
Beta-Alanine also happens to be one of the most researched supplements in the world. Increased research leads to greater discoveries and better information on the safety of the supplement.
Finally, Beta-Alanine is completely safe to use for the majority of individuals, with no notable side effects that have been related.
Blonyx Beta Alanine Review
Knowing that Beta-Alanine being one of the most researched supplements in the industry, I had a good idea that it was going to work. Not only is it one of the most researched, but it's also one of the most recommended supplements, and therefore would be considered a staple in any supplement stack.
I took two scoops (6g) on training days & one scoop 2x a day on non-training days. Before I get into training it was important to note that it took a few days for my body to adjust from the tingling sensation you can get from Beta-Alanine.
This tingling feeling is known as acute paresthesia. Acute paresthesia when taking beta-alanine has been seen for years but is still unknown as to why it happens. The most likely cause for the feeling is due to the effects beta-alanine have on the central nervous system. Most pre-workout supplements include beta-alanine and new users will experience the same effect.
In order to test the effectiveness of a supplement, it's important to keep a consistent training schedule. During this time I was training 5 days a week with an emphasis on Powerlifting & Conditioning. After two weeks of continually taking Blonyx Beta-Alanine, I noticed a huge improvement in muscular endurance.
I was able to decrease rest times to around 30-45 sec between sets whereas before I was still winded following 1-1:15 minute rests. By the end of my 4th week, those rest times stayed true and I was able to pump out more reps/sets in less time.
The ingredient profile and directions are as follows:
- Serving Size: One Level Scoop (3g)
- Servings per container: 60
- Directions: To benefit from taking beta-alanine you require 6g a day. To achieve this take one scoop twice a day (one am, and one pm). Do not exceed the recommended serving. This tub contains a 30-day serving.
You can look at this a variety of ways. With a one scoop serving (3g) you can add this to a pre-workout supplement that may lack a full dose of beta-alanine.
You could also take 2 scoops at one time giving you a full 6g amount. Really you can take this any time of day as long as you are getting the required dosage.
Supplements can get pretty expensive when you start buying a bunch of individual tubs. Knowing this, we think it's important to discuss the value of each. You can purchase a tub of Blonyx Beta Alanine from their Amazon for around $35. Each tub contains 60 total servings or a 30 day supply (2 servings per day).
Essentially, you're looking at a cost of around .58 cents per scoop or $1.16 per day. If you're using one scoop to add to a pre-workout powder then you're getting a bargain at .58 cents per scoop.
Even if you take the required 6g serving (2 scoops) it's not that bad of a deal. You'll notice some other companies use 100-180 servings per container for Beta-Alanine, however, that's typically only 2g per serving. If you divide it out using the required dosage of around 6 grams, they are very much in line with the Blonyx price.
You can find Beta-Alanine at just about any in-store or online retailer for comparison.
In conclusion, Blonyx Beta Alanine is a simple, but highly effective product.
Most of the research has been done so all you got to do is find out for yourself as to why Beta-Alanine is a primary staple amongst athletes as its completely safe to use. You can use this as a standalone supplement or stack it with other supplements to improve your muscular endurance.
However, as always, remember its important that your training/diet is in check before using any kind of supplement. We want to thank Blonyx for giving us the opportunity to review this product.
